What a marvelous piece of work. Bash two neutron stars together and out come newly minted elements. I suppose all manner of other nuclear species produced like this await discovery too.

I wonder if life, or at least

I wonder if life, or at least intelligent life (so-called) is dependent on the heavy elements? If so, that would place a lower bound on the time for evolution of some species.  Other phenomena will place an upper bound.  This could get interesting.
