hi everybody,
hope I'm in the right forum here.
I currently have a ~2 year old system, but my graphics card is a bit older. here are some specs:
Windows 10
SSD(270 GB) and HDD (1TB)
Asus maximus hero VIII Mainboard
Intel i7 6700K @4 GHz
8 GB DDR3 (?) RAM
Gigabyte R9 390 (8GB RAM)
550 W PSU fully modular from Corsair
I'm using my computer mainly for gaming and some office work. when I'm not home I let einstein@home run. have not been for a long time but I started again a few weeks ago.
Lately I've been thinking that some more fps wouldn't be bad and a new card wouldn't hurt computing performance either.
so to come to my question: do both mentioned cards work again? have been reading about some issues..
second question: wich one to get? gaming wise it isn't a big difference, price is about 100 euros difference. what difference should I expect in computing for Einstein?
wich one is better for the future/I will be able to use for more time?
also I'm thinking about buying the rx and using it together with the r9 for Einstein. would that even make sense considering I have to buy a new PSU..?
have a nice day
Timo
Edit: I'm always using 2 monitors, one for gaming, one for watching tv. at the same time. so it would give me another fps boost, if I connect the tv-monitor to the r9, so the rx has just one monitor to handle?

Can anyone confirm that the 5700 actually works here on Einstein. It doesn't on Seti and both projects use OpenCL. As far as I know the OpenCL for the 5700 is still broken for compute.

So far as I've heard users have reported no success in using Navi cards at Einstein. I don't believe anyone knows what the problem actually is. There is an "All things Navi" thread here you may wish to review.

Having 2 GPUs for 2 display outputs will not increase your FPS (at best slightly decrease idle power).
