Topic 216200

For you newbies, here are the rules:
1. To participate in the game, you must post to the prescribed thread.
2. A post must consist of at least one word.
3. A participant may not have two or more consecutive posts in the thread.
4. The winner of an episode is responsible for organizing the next episode and for choosing the winner of that episode.
5. The winner may be chosen on the basis of the date/time of the post, the number of the post in the thread (50th post; 31415th post; ...), the presence/absence of a particular word/phrase in the post, or any other reason selected by the organizer of the episode. However, the organizer of an episode is prohibited from winning that particular episode.
6. Have fun!

And having said all of this and with a flare of trumpets we are off (????)

Not a problem I have never played a trumpet or any other instrument for that matter.

Now I, on the other hand, played in the percussion section of High School band.  That meant being multi-purpose on various instruments. Alas, I put down my drumsticks at graduation and haven't touched them in over 45 years.

I have fond memories of Marching Band, and Symphony Orchestra was enjoyable too.

I can't carry a tune in a bucket so never even tried in school but in the Navy I once found a trumpet and 'played' it a few times. I was soooo bad even I gave up on it!! ;-)

The latter may yet change. ;-)

As a youth, a brief passion for the accordion led to a small stipend to cease the activity. The money won out.

Congratulations to Robl. A fine win, sir.

Takes a sweeping bow.  and as for a monetary payoff to cease playing an instrument I too could have "been had".

I played the flute in high

I played the flute in high school and college.  I tried to go back to it a few years ago.  I remembered what to do with my fingers, but my mouth didn't work right.  I blame it on weight loss.  My lips aren't as fat as they used to be.

Uh, do realize how tempting that straight line is to a joker?

lost balance yesterday and

lost balance yesterday and fell into a stack of cinder blocks.  got checked out at my primary's urgent care facility and no broken bones/spleen etc, but I am experiencing a level of pain in the left shoulder unlike any pain I have ever experienced.  hopefully this will improve by the end of the week or I might be forced into repaying a visit to my primary.  As we age it becomes ever more important that we are aware of our surroundings.
