Please help Lo Lee, a first-year doctoral student from Library and Information Science at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, by filling in an online survey about Einstein@Home and BOINC. Lo Lee is doing a project on citizen science that aims to assess to what extent citizen science can be designed as an inclusive online learning environment to embrace volunteer diversity. The findings from this project will be submitted to academic conferences, might be published in scientific papers, and could also help us improve Einstein@Home by finding out a bit more about the motivations of our participants.
You will find the survey form at https://illinois.edu/sb/sec/7460218. Filling it in will take you only a few minutes. Thank you in advance for your participation!

Filled out the survey. Good luck to the Doc student with his studies. Not sure what the goal is though. Not sure how a program like BOINC or searching for Gravity Waves has anything to do with diversity. Its either something you're interested in or you're not.

That page (https://illinois.edu/sb/sec/7460218) asked me to attest that I had read the consent form, but I see no consent form.

As far as I understood it, the first page of the survey is the consent form. If you have questions, you can always contact Lo Lee via the email address provided there.

I've taken the survey. One of the most debated issues in SETI@home, the credit system, was ignored. I get far more credits in Einstein@home than in other projects, such as SETI, LHC@home, climateprediction.net. Is this right?

I took the survey and I know there needs to be limits on the range for how long but they seemed a bit short (like focused on the current student population of the University) [1-3 years]
Allthough Q1 was about the project repeating it in 8 for the BOINC platform with the same range seemed not entirely right.
Closest seemed to be how do you like the Statistics? Sort of tricky to expend on your answer when it's not really the fault of Einstein@Home.
Your right Tullio though I'd love a DP GPU just so I could Compare Einstien with Milkyway.
I wonder how we would feel if David Anderson had stuck to his guns and added a Flop counter for the Projects Scientific comparison. I think the avoiding of resetting of all cobblestones was a good thing though.

Dear all,
Thank you so much for each of you who has answered the survey for us. It is amazing that we have already received more than 1000 responses in only two weeks. Because this amount of data is far more than I originally anticipated, it probably would take me some extra time to process them and get back to every potential interviewee. I really appreciate your contribution and patience, and I cannot wait to see how far we will go in the next two weeks!
All the best,
Lo

Dear all,
Thank you all for answering the survey! The survey has been closed now, but I have already received much more responses than I anticipated a month ago. I really appreciate your assistance. For the next step, I will begin to contact some of you, and schedule multiple follow-up interviews. The project has indeed made a lot progress!
I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
All the best,
Lo

Dear all,
here's an update I post on behalf of Lo Lee, who “really appreciates your time and efforts for joining in this work”. You can find an online version of a poster presented at 232nd American Astronomical Society (AAS) summer meeting with the first survey results here.
