If my PC can receive 10 credits a day and yours can do 11, then its a way to say yours is completing more work and most likely more powerful or more efficient at running the task. BOINC points/credits cannot be used for in return for anything. It's more of a tracking mechanism.
Some projects have static credits per task like E@H which have relatively same sized tasks for the same credit for each task. Some other projects use a benchmark and give some credits based on run time and how powerful the processor is. That system is called CreditNew.
There is Gridcoin if you're interesting in joining that team that pays out a crypto coin for work completed.
Thanks for the info. Was just curious, mainly. I look forward to seeing how many credits my computer can accomplish this year. Even though I do not understand all of these programs, it is exciting to be a small part of all of these scientific projects.
