Project downtime on Tue Jan 23rd

Hi everyone,
We are going to shut down the project next Tuesday, Jan 23rd at around 10 AM CET for an upgrade of our database backend systems to make them ready for the years to come. We're going to upgrade hardware parts, operating systems as well the databases themselves, which is why we need to shut down the entire project, including the BOINC backend and this very website.
Generally you don't have to do anything at your end. Your BOINC client will temporarily pause fetching new tasks and automatically upload your finished ones as soon as the project is up and running again.
We expect the upgrades to be finished the same day and will announce it here accordingly.

Absolutely. The problem is that the curve balls have a habit of appearing unepectedly. It is always easier to learn from something that has happened than to predict and therefore plan for something that was unpredictable and hasn't happened /yet/.

IMO it's too bad you chose Tuesday, a lot of people over at Sete use Einstein as their backup project during Seti's 10 to 12 hr maintenance which happens every Tuesday.
I don't think it will affect me I'll just increase my cache to 3 days and hopefully not run out of work.

The upgrades went fine so far. There are still some things to be done in the background but the project and our website should be fully back up and running again.

Some problem on the DB

Some problem on the DB occurred this morning that looks related to the upgrade. It should be fixed now, and the DB and daemons are slowly crawling through the backlogs. Sorry for the inconvenience in the past five hours.

Yep, the pro devs of the Python DB module we use for scripting purposes changed their API in a backwards-incompatible way when moving from version x.y.4 to x.y.5. They clearly followed all best practices
