Team RPC Issue

For those of using BAM! manager, Einstein does not correctly register when we try to change our team.

We receive a 'Team Not Found' although it passes over. Yet because of the RPC issue (per Willy), our team never gets updated at BAM and in fact leads to the wrong team being passed to Einstein whenever we edit our profiles resulting in us having to either set the team there or manually here.

This has been an ongoing issue for some months...

Thank you.

We are not aware of any

We are not aware of any issues with RPCs. What RPC is failing exactly in this case?

I'm experiencing the same

I'm experiencing the same problem. The data between Einstein@Home and BAM! does not propagate. Haven't dug deeper as to where it fails though. Beyond team failing to synchronize I see country differs too.

Part of the problem is that I don't use BAM! And thus am not in a position to know where the failure is occurring. Thus I must ask one of you to try and tell me where it fails. Does it try to access a URL (https://einsteinathome.org/something.php?parameter1=value...) or does it do something else? Giving us as much information as possible is necessary before we can even diagnose where the problem may lie.

Understood! I'll have to dig and see what I can see from a user perspective. Maybe not that much. But we can start by narrowing it down:

E@H <-> boinc-client is working fine, works are being fetched and submitted and validated. And the setup was done by BAM (e.g. I never setup E@H on each client, just provided my BAM login).

E@H <-> boincstats.com is currently not synchronizing anything. Not works done, teams, country.

I tried duckduckgoing to other stats-gathering-websites and found at least one that gets current E@H data fine, http://boinc.netsoft-online.com. So perhaps the issue is specific to E@H <-> boincstats?

FYI, we're just providing raw stats data (same set for all stats sites). Each stats site may then download and process/display that data. That said, we aren't actively involved in "syncing" the stats sites themselves. If one site is falling behind you want to contact the site in question.

Cheers,
Oliver

Thanks Oliver! Been quite a

Thanks Oliver! Been quite a few years since I used BOINC last so still enough confusion to go around! I just searched and found my old user still lingering out there! Joined Einstein@Home 2005... Time flies!

As an update boincstats now get data from E@H again so the only problem is the pushing of settings from BAM! here. That can be set in the preferences so only a minor annoyance. I probably won't research this much further but of course hope the bug gets found and squished on whichever side it is on.:)

Actually, could I ask you to act as a guinea pig for us? I would like to ask you, or someone, to try and change their team, and only their team, using BAM! ? When you do so, please note the date and time. Please try to indicate your timezone (or record the time in UTC). The purpose of this is that once you do this, post a comment in this thread or send me a PM with that timestamp. Then I can look in our logs at that date and time and see what RPC(s) are being called. That would help in tracking down the problem.

Hello Oliver,

Hi,Which config.php are you

Hi,

Which config.php are you referring to? The main project config XML doesn't contain any stats links. Otherwise we're following the standard BOINC convention exception that our host, team and user stats files have an extra "_id" in their respective basenames.

Cheers,
Oliver
