No Windows CPU Work Available?

Pardon my "casual--but dedicated--contributor" ignorance, but is there no Windows CPU work available [anymore]? I realize the BRP4G pipeline has gone dry for the time being. But, I know that I used to run CPU tasks before the BRP4G tasks became the exclusive workload for E@H on my measly Windows-based laptop with AMD Radeon HD 6520G/6530D/6550D/6620G (SuperSumo) (512MB) GPU configuration.

I have all but the test applications enabled, and just reset my (what had been stable for me relative to my other BOINC project [CPU] tasks) resource share from 75 to 100. Any information is appreciated since I would like to continue contributing while I wait for more BRP4G work.

Do you have the the Gamma-ray

Do you have the the Gamma-ray pulsar binary search #1 enabled in your project preferences?  It would be the only 'CPU task' search that can provide work at the moment.

Cheers,
Gary.

The first step for any "I'm not getting work" situation is to review the most recent log of a work request transaction for your machine.  Gary Roberts has recently posted a very helpful review of this topic on the Getting Started forum.

In your case a review of the most recent request log as of my writing shows that your machine requested zero seconds of CPU work.

At a guess this means it thinks you are ahead of yourself on Einstein work compared to other project work.  Einstein has nothing to do with this decision.  BOINC running on your own machine taking into account your project allocation specification and your history decides this.

Thanks for the replies.  I do

Thanks for the replies.  I do have the Gamma-ray Pulsar Binary Search #1 application selected.  And, although I did check my latest transaction log, I did not until now fully comprehend the implication of:

[send] CPU: req 0.00 sec, 0.00 instances; est delay 0.00
[send] ATI: req 51840.00 sec, 1.00 instances; est delay 0.00
[send] work_req_seconds: 0.00 secs

Shame on me because Gary's review is very well done, and I did just notice a reference to it in another recent Cruncher thread!  In any case, I'm sure your guess is indeed correct that BOINC considers Einstein way ahead compared to my other project work.  I did suspect this based on the fact that my E@H "Work done" is approximately 6X that of any of my other projects (due to the GPU usage that only E@H seems able to take advantage of on my machine).  I was hoping BOINC would be more responsive to the "Avg. work done" specification, but I guess not.

Actually, I think there might be a way to over-ride this situation in cc_config.xml, and "force" BOINC to send me E@H work. But, I'm not sure such an over-ride can be tailored to a specific project.  I'll research this.  If this is not possible, and unless you have further advise, I assume my only course of action will be to wait it out--both relative to BOINC considering E@H "work done" to be more in balance with my other projects and deserving of receiving new tasks, and to new BRP4G data being received by E@H.

Thanks for the help!

You could always try setting your Einstein@home project preferences to "Use ATI GPU = No", then Boinc on your machine will know that GPU work is out of the question and will stop asking for it and maybe start asking for CPU work. If it really is a "debt" problem this will probably not make any difference but if it does work you also might want to write down the decision somewhere so you remember to undo it if/when Einstein releases work that can be run on your GPU.
