Has anyone else to get BOINCManager to display the Einstein graphics?
Just want to make sure I'm not getting overexcited :)
Done it before by the telnet method, but today BOINCManager did it for me for the first time.
Running std BOINC 4.43 , Einstein 4.81 , Kernel 2.6.12.3 XOrg6.8.2 , running radeon driver on AthlonXP2800 with Radeon 9600XT, .
PS: Nice to be able to look at the pretty pictures occasionally
Edit: Added XOrg version

Probably not. I just found a problem in the build process, most likely nobody is able to load the graphics library right now. Too bad that no one caught this in the beta test. But a solution is on the way and should result in a new App soon.

Disagree, i can see graphics in the Manager.
Pretty surprising. What Linux Distri / Kernel are you running? All your current hosts are listet as running Windows - remember that this thread is about the Linux App.

BOINC Manager running on BOINC 4.43, Linux distro SuSe/Novell 9.2, app einstein 4.81 and I can see the revolving earth graphics just fine.
Sorry, was a bit too hastily - it seems that only the latest Linux Beta App is affected, the prvious 0.06 now standard 4.81 is built with slightly older BOINC code and shouldn't have that problem.
Been long away... this Einstein Beta for Linux is such a pleasant surprise !
Thanks, it seems the gap is closing !
My AMD64 3500+ system seems to grind WU's under Linux at about the same rate it used to grind them under Wine. That IS an improvement.
There's still the annoying problem that the BOINC client shows widely differing cpu benchmark results for Windows and Linux environments.
Everyone will explain to me that this is not a p...ing contest. True, it isn't. But once a yardstick has been created and is being used, one could hope that the same yardstick is used for all performance measurements. Hope ...
... or download and compile a newer BOINC client with reasonable optimization flags, which yelds about 1.5 higher benchmark figures, closer to the overvalued Windows "standard" ?
And more about boinc bench.
I observe real disaster on p4HT cpus.
I compute E@H only on one CPU, but bench works on both. It results in claiming 25 credits... (as it's relatively fast on one CPU)
maybe boinc should know more about HT?

credit is same for less time, nice.regarding formentioned graphic probs.None
here also.Need to update to KDE 3.5 ,yet,am happy with this 9.1 stable
version."Open Office" is so great and Mozzilas full suite and now
"Free Opera" everything is quite sweet. After frying M.B. from xtra Ram.

Fairness should prevail - from the outset.
