I'm not sure we should consider marathons to be honest. The only good thing about the 26 involved with them is that it's 385 yards less than how far you have to run, which is not saying much when you consider that at 46145 yards, they're already 45760 too long.
What about the Latin alphabet though? Progressed from the early u g and h to where it is now, 26 fully-fledged ordered letters that we can rearrange to our heart's content and write on coloured squares and... everything...
;)=
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.
I am highly impressed by the quality of the '26 question ?' entries ( go on, everybody grovel in subservience & unalloyed worship, knee pads will be provided ). I will be evil and award the bonus points for it when this thread completes. For the sake of complete autocracy democracy ..... :-)
.... leaves to flagellate self for not even associating/contemplate the alphabet and the number 26 ....
Cheers, Mike.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

What is 26 good for, not a lot that I can think of, but do remember a long time back (50+ years) that my Grandmother said it was God's number. I have no idea why.
May it please the court, I would submit that the Royal Navy will have it's first Type 26 Destroyers in 2023.
And of course 26 weeks is exactly half a year. Well not in a leap year when it is 1/2 a year and 1/2 a day.
The 26th Amendment: “Old Enough to Fight, Old Enough to Vote” During World War II, President Franklin D. Roosevelt lowered the minimum age for the military draft age to 18, at a time when the minimum voting age (as determined by the individual states) had historically been 21.
(5^2)+1=26
Juxtaposing mumbers
2(5+1)=12 months in a year
And finally 26 is two Bakers Dozens.
Go on, blink in amazement at the sheer intellectual prowess displayed before you :-)) Deferential nodding of heads and tugging of forelocks are acceptable.
Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)
Why do doctors have to practice?
You'd think they'd have got it right by now
It didn't take a Yank to mention it David, it took me a polite Englishman not to mention that 26th December, Boxing Day, is my birtthday :-)
Mine is 3 days before yours! I got waaay too many 'here's your Birthday and Christmas present in one' presents to care much for Christmas anymore!! To be honest my immediate family ALWAYS tried to do both, but beyond them it was usually a one present that covers both thing. As a kid it's ALL about US, not that other guy from 2,000 years ago.
26 weeks is the first half (Jan to Jun incl) of a leap year.
Empirically yes, technically no.
No blinking, nods or tugging.
I dunno, you just can't get the minions and serfs these days you know, the quality has gone right down recently. Time was when deferential meant more than just the rear transmission of a car. Of course in them days we had proper cars not the front wheel drive stuff we have now.Villeins would doff their cap as you passed by in the Rolls shooting brake.
I blame that bloke El Nino and his wife La Nina. Never could trust them an inch.
Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)
