Willy posted on the Boinc/Seti forum:

The server was hacked, and it's being reinstalled at the moment.

If all goes well it should be back online today.

And a PS:

Ow, forgot, you can access BOINCstats for the most part of the day on www1.boincstats.com

Yeah, I finally ran into the

Yeah, I finally ran into the anouncement over in SETI@Home ... and I did see the news, but forgot ... sigh ...

It *IS* my favorite stat site ... one has these little bouncing things that drive me nuts, and the others I get lost looking for things ...

Now, if Willy only gave me a REAL average of daily production ... well ... what can I say ... RAC may make sense to someone, but I have never seen it make sense ... but, what do I know ...

I completely agree. Out of my 14 machines, the lowest RAC is 7, and the highest is 140.

I saw this analogy on one of the boards the other day -- I do not claim originality, but it makes more sense to me ...

CREDIT is like the odometer on your car; it tells you how far you've gone.

RAC is the speedometer on your car; it shows how fast you're doing it ...

I understand the concept of RAC. I just don't have it figured out how it is actually implemented. I've even look at how it is computed before. It is just sometimes, it seems arbitrary to me as to where it gets that number!

Yes, I added that little

Yes, I added that little analogy into the Wiki. I would find a 30 day average "better" in that it would not have the time factor cranked in. This makes RAC very sensitive to the time when credit is granted. So, for example, if the SETI@Home outage recovery lasted for a day This would put a big spike into the data.

In your detailed stats are two averages:
RAC according to the project(s)
RAC according to BOINCstats

The latter calculates your RAC over (at most) 60 days, so that should be a decent average.

If this is not what you meant, let me know.

Ah, only on the project

Ah, only on the project detailed stats. I rarely look at those as I am only interested in the BOINC stats. And that does not have those calculations.

In any case, I am talking about a simple add 'em up and divide by number of days. I don't trust RAC's stability (my perception is that it is very volatile). Anyway, I don't pay that much attention to what is going on within individual projects, only what is going on in the BOINC summary. I mean, having bought into the whole BOINC philosopy ... :)
