What were you doing ? Getting the Mustang up to Warp speed
in order to traverse Time ?
Bill
PS: I had my Iroc Camero up to 135 a couple of times
That was about as fast as it would go.
.
That's funny! A FRAKKING Ford 2.3 L going to Warp speed... The damned thing pegged at 95!!! (Though I had Accel 8.8 mm spark plug wires, Double Platinum plugs, K&N Air Filter, Red Line 5w 30 oil, Red Line ATF, Red Line Differential Fluid, modified suspension, alloy rims. ...AND MORE!)
Stupid thing was hit from the front left behind the wheel well in a side swipe motion from some B*T*H!!! Ruined the frame and shifted the drive train in the rear from right to left making the left rear tire rub against the inside edge of the wheel well... Thus cutting into the left tire while driving... Alignment was NEVER correctable after that. Though the body shop swore they could fix the car; it NEVER drove right again. Almost one year to the date of the accident I found that the work the body shop did to straighten the frame broke the floor loose at the front passenger floor on the right side of the floor pan and opened a hole 8" around...
So, I reopened the case and claimed the car was unsafe to drive. While that investigation was going on, the car got hit a second time. So, the insurance met with me, discussed the new damages vs. the uncorrected old damages, and totaled the car. I fought with them for about a week and won and got $8,000.00 for a car that Blue Booked at $2,300.00.
The insurance never did tell me who they went after for reimbursement... Perhaps the body shop for making the car worse, the original causer of the first accident, or both... I mean REALLY; why would they grant me the $8K for a 2.3L Mustang????? I mean, like I said, I had all my records, the car was BETTER than well taken care of by me... BUT, STILL, $8K!!!!
So, I cashed their check before they could change their minds and immediately bought my used 89 Honda Accord LX-i 2.0 L. Which was $6,604.37 out the door. I took the extra money and bought a high end Clifford Alarm system, and got a Kenwood stealth deck, and PPI Art Series amplifiers. Over time, I got the Accord tricked out with DC Sports Headers, Borla Muffler, Eibach Pro-kit springs, front and rear anti-sway bars, Red Line 5W 30 oil, Red Line Honda ATF fluid, Havoline Orange Coolant and Red Line Water Wetter. Even bought a 93 Accord rear spoiler and had that custom mounted to the trunk of the 89 Accord. This car served me perfectly until I traded it in for the 2009 Civic Hybrid.
That is the first time I ever heard of a 1989 Accord getting *pimped*
That is what my wife has and it seems every one is painted the same color........but it gets good gas mileage and after all these years it is still trouble-free (even replaced the timing belt since she put so many miles on it)
Most of mine sit in the garage until summer and even then they only take a few drives (usually one tank of gas and then refilled for the winter)
I have had my 1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme since 1979 and it is getting close to 50 years old and if I am on a nice paved road it will still get up to 135mph........but I rather not hit a deer or get a speeding ticket so if I want to test it we have a nice paved road that goes steep up a mountain and it is a State road so it is nice straight and smooth and we only get bragging right if our car will go over 100mph up Palo Alto road.
It is still all pretty much original as it was in 1970 with the 426hp Rocket 455 and the turbo 400 automatic with 500ft lbs of torque.

The timing belt on an 89 Accord NEEDS to be replaced at 60K Miles; REGARDLESS of the fact that the owner's manual says 75K. Honda re-evaluated the service interval for the timing belt, and I even got a notice that recommended it be changed every 60K; or if worn. Even my 2009 Civic Hybrid now states 60K. Also, when the timing belt is changed on the Accord, make sure to replace the water pump at the same time. One of the first things I did was to replace ALL hoses and belts when I got the Accord. I wanted NO leaks anywhere; so, I also had ALL seals and gaskets replaced. Then I changed over to the Red Line synthetic oil products. The 89 Accord put the 89 Mustang LX to shame!!! A smaller engine, better designed, higher horsepower, better performance and the ability to break 110 easy... Yeah Ford SUCKS!!!!!
As for speed; I did manage to get the Accord to 110 easy, the car would do more but, I never pushed it. As to color; I don't know what color your wife's Accord is, but mine was teal with beige cloth interior. That was the one thing I didn't get to do; that was to change the color and completely repaint the car. I wanted white. OH, back to speed; even my Hybrid goes faster than the Mustang ever did... I got the 1.3 L 110 Horsepower 2009 Civic Hybrid to 101 mph on Highway 5 going to Southern California!!! ONLY DID THIS ONCE!!! Scared the crap out of me that this little 1.3 L got going that fast. I backed it down to 75 the rest of the way... Estimated Horsepower on my Accord was estimated to be 133 after all my modifications.
I got my 1969 Buick Lesabre up to 100 once on old Rt. 66 somewhere north of Bloomington, IL. It probably would have gone faster, but I didn't feel confident doing it, especially at night.
I don't think I ever tried to find the top end of my 1996 Chevy Caprice Classic police cruiser, but I'm sure it would have gone well over 100.
My 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee started to shimmy above 80, so I never went faster.
On certain highways, I will cruise my current Trailblazer at 90. I think the highest I've ever taken it is 95, but it felt like it had plenty left above that.
No comment on the 78 Monza wagon or 79 Malibu, or my mother's 79 Monte Carlo that I drove for a few years.

Our Accord is silver.....or gray....or platinum whatever they call that color and every Accord I see around here is the same color......even new ones!
Yeah we had the water pump replaced at the same time and our belt was replaced when it was close to 100,000 miles one summer after I saw that in the owners manual.
My only car that doesn't get to sit in the garage all winter is a 1999 Chrysler 300M with all the extras (and the paint color is called platinum) and they say the timing belt is supposed to be replaced around 75,000 as I remember and it is over 100,000 right now but I haven't had that one done yet.........the local mechanic says about $600 to do that and it has the biggest motor they made so it is wall to wall motor when you open the hood.....nothing like my Cutlass.....so the only thing I do with the Chrysler is oil change.
As far as Fords.....to me......yeah they suck
But I have only had one......a 1967 Thunderbird that I had painted and a new 428 engine put in and gave it to my Mom and she picked it up from the mechanic and got groceries and drove home and after she got all her stuff out and the car was on FIRE under the hood........burned to a pile of metal ........I probably would have put out the fire if I was there but I wasn't
What you've got happening there *point at Mike's picture* is a gathering of the accusatoryaffected clans. The same thing happens outside my front door after a snail leaps under a shoe I just happen to be wearing :(
I am sorry to hear about your yesterday, Mike :( It's never a nice thing to happen. Did your car suffer any retaliatory damage? I mean at the time. Not... since...
;)
The first vehicle I was ever in control of turned out I wasn't. It was one of those low slung red jobs with not much clearance between its bits and the ground's bits. Didn't put a scratch on it :) Had my feet under the pedals where there was just enough room for them to be chopped and bludgeoned throughout the entire downhill event - but not extracted - until the point where the gradient flattened suddenly, which is when we tipped up smartly onto my head.
Hello everyone! I hope everyone's been having a oh... *rememmmmmber....* a mostly-to-entirely lovely weekend? :)
And MAGIC! It's you! And you won! Congratulations!

The car seems fine. It has what we usually/politely term a 'nudge bar', but perhaps 'roo bar' is now a better title. Safe egress to work this morning.
Had a great time on w/end in the pits amongst it all at one of our great motor racing events. Medium sunburn but otherwise happy. My wife came with me this time, which is unprecedented. She reckoned it was blokes driving around & around in fast loud cars. Which is true. Now she reckons it is still blokes driving around & around in fast loud cars, but WOW what a sound ! So her heart now beats to the thumps of the V8 tribal drums ...... :-)
Plus : man o man, the money in the pits. Just stand under the shower that shreds $100 notes. Sponsor = someone with a tonne of money that feeds the shredder. The engines are so spruiked that, without care, they can cut loose in the back end in 5th gear @ over 200 km/h.
This guy had a deflating right front tyre, so by the end of the straight going into a 200k left hander had consequent braking/turning difficulty ( ie. neither much apparent ), but walked away from this ~ 150k @ impact :
... proving the value of the cellular titanium roll-cage, a modest six figure item. Sounds like Annie didn't have one of those ...... :-)
Cheers, Mike.
