Major Milestone -- 100K Credit!

Congratulations!! Very well done!!

A clear case of Seti's loss is Einstein's gain, eh?

Cheers,
Gary.

At least to some degree -- I'm still generating a lot of seti work as well -- but in those systems where I have multiple clients, SETI is low on the resource share.

Heck, in some cases I've set up Climate as a project as well.

My SETI credit is over 230K -- but my daily run rate at the moment is a bit higher for Einstein.

BarryAZ; Congratulations on

BarryAZ; Congratulations on 100k. Be advised that the "full house" or "trip sevens" are best reserved for the juveniles at SETI. Crunch quietly, but stress your electric utility. Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. My current project is trying to realine the 754 pins on a newcastle 3400 so it will fit into a new cruncher. Not fun. Feel free to head into your backyard and pat yourself on the back. Do not scream at the same time. You have a lot of work to do, chase me!

Regards- tweakster

Be nice lad -- some folks like the poker hand stuff. Describing folks as 'juveniles at SETI' *might* be considered juvenile by some, eh?

Making those pins straight is a real effort of love.....

By the way, one thing which has 'encouraged' me to allocate major CPU resources to Einstein (often taken from SETI BOINC or simply redirected SETI Classic as it goes off into the star-set), is that Einstein tends NOT to have major outages -- SETI BOINC has two announced outages coming up -- 5 hours, and then 14 hours. Not *blaming* the folks over there, just noting that this sort of thing (along with the 'after the outage issues' that often enough occur over in SETI BOINC does make it easy to keep CPU cycles over here.

These days I'm doing about 14000 credits a week in SETI and over 23000 a week in Einstein. (I also did about 2500 credits in Climate in the last week).

That was precisely why I made that initial comment. I can remember clearly your pain and suffering and sheer frustration during one of the major outages at Seti a month or two ago :). I just knew you were going to enjoy the EAH stability once you figured out that you didn't really need to worry about large caches anymore :).

It really is good to see your continuing support of EAH so don't pay any attention to tweakster!! You go ahead and announce your milestones any whichway you like. He's just scared you will overtake him oneday if you start diverting too many resources :).

Cheers,
Gary.

I figure if I pushed all my SETI BOINC over to Einstein and killed off the remaining small handful of Seti classic systems I have running, I might get to about 35K to 40K a week on Einstein. But I rather like pushing multiple projects and note the differing styles of each of them (Climate is like way different from either Einstein or SETI).

It still gets me that SETI BOINC continues to be at least somewhat problematic on a number of different aspects. Many of us have noted the issues with outages and outage recovery over there, but also I find the workunits there are VERY variable in 'value' AND I find that SETI BOINC will 'zero out' reported work while the same system will yield consistent credit in Einstein. Seems to me that there remain some very real issues over there.

Regarding tweakster -- some folks just have to be misanthropic -- it has something to do with the conservation of ennui.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. I did classic for 5.5 years and then decided to try out BOINC through 1 EAH box. I liked what I found so I converted rapidly to EAH once I reached a particular classic milestone. Along the way I started using SAH/BOINC as a backup for EAH, thinking that EAH would eventually have SAH type outages. It's quite amusing to have my main project actually backing up my backup project rather than the other way around :).

Once orbit was announced I grabbed an account for when they actually get started and just recently when LHC started to ramp up, I grabbed an account there. I'm now using LHC as a backup project for a number of EAH boxes and I'm quickly climbing through the ranks there as well.

So, at the moment I have 4 very old and slow boxes still doing classic, with a bunch of more modern boxes mainly doing EAH with SAH, LHC and eventually Orbit as minor projects. When classic ends, I figure that the influx to Seti/Boinc will exacerbate the problems there and I envisage shifting all SAH shares to Orbit. The timing should be just about right :).

Cheers,
Gary.
