I would really love to get my hands on 8 B+ models so I could have a stack running for every generation of PI. When the Pi 4 comes out, I will likely move all three stacks on to a single 24 port switch. I may even build a custom 5V power supply and power via GPIO.
I have noticed that one of my nodes in the Pi 2 cluster has significantly reduced performance so I have to troubleshoot that at some point. No errors, but taking nearly 60K seconds to complete a WU and the RAC is in the 300s. I have another Pi 2 Node that won't stabilly run at 1GHz so I have to replace that board as well.
I also need to order some Pimoroni Blinkt! units for each pi to give visual indication of status of workunits, CPU speed, and temp.
This has truly been a fun little hobby. I hope there is a chance to have Work Units optimized for the Pi 3 and that we get a crack at the next round of LIGO data!
Video is nicely done as is the stack. If I remember correctly you are running ethernet to your stacks. If this is true why not consider a POE solution with a splitter to separate data from power at the stack end. Powering from GPIO by passes some safeguards unless your design would provide that. Just thinking. Maybe too much. I have one of these on order for a Pi Zero I finally received.

It does run a little warm, however. Fixed that by removing the top of the case it came with and setting an 80mm case fan on top to blow down onto the board.

Thanks for the info. I too do WCG and had that in mind although if the next batch of GW is not too demanding for CPU power this might be perfect for what I want to do. Do you think a large heatsink on the metal lid would work?

Possibly. I had considered put something like a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO on it since they're inexpensive and work very well, but the fan solution I came up with works so well that I've never bothered.
The USB HUB is on the bottom of the Pi Zero and is electrically connected by 4 spring loaded pins, shown below. The pins are soldered to the HUB but "press" against electrical contacts on the Pi Zero. Most are soldered. Which method? Depends on your application.
And finally powered by POE with a Ethernet to USB gender bender (blue).
Has anyone had any validate erros or their RPIs? for last three days I have recieved 12 validate errors. The 12 were spread accross all 4 RPis. Seems strange no problems for 2 months and then in 3 days all for each have 1-3 validate errors.
