I know I could use Threadmaster, but it would e nice if cpu limiting was implemented in E@H (or maybe should be in boinc in general?)
PS. Folding@Home has this feature, and it resolves all issues with slow responce on Win32.

CPU usage limit
)
This has been mentioned, and it is something that will be looked at when the more important details have been addressed.
RE: This has been

CPU limiting to "1" on a dual core AMD works great - 50% CPU utilization on both processors. If that can work so well, why can't Bonics limit utilization to x% or 0.x fraction on a single CPU system? Sounds like an easy modification.
There are only 10 kind of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't!
RE: If that can work so

Why would you want to limit the CPU usage? If it is to leave some CPU for other applications, realise that the Einstein process runs at low priority, so other processes will get all the time they need.
The only possible reason I can think is for heat purposes, that the CPU will get hot when running at 100%. Is this why you want to limit it?
I want limit the CPU usage,
)
I want limit the CPU usage, becouse from unknown reasons the binc hangs WinXP for a while from time to time. The problem was raised on this forum. Some people encountered this problem, some not.
Anyway, on F@H project this is available, and swiftly solves this problem(as the FAH_Core yelds CPU quite often for windows to react).
Yeah, I'd love a CPU cap that

Yeah, I'd love a CPU cap that I don't have to hack into the registry. I fear modifying my registry.

wijita & Daral,
You might want to check out Threadmaster to selectively limit % of CPU usage. I haven't tried it myself, but I respect those who've recommended it.

Yeah, I did some digging

Yeah, I did some digging around and found that myself. It works quite well, although as aforementioned, I would prefer not to have to edit registry values by hand. Plus, you need to modify the reg values every time you want to either change the CPU percentage or the exe gets updated (since it changes the exe name). Anyway, I'm happy for now.
HI there, for all of you
)
HI there,
for all of you willing ot limit the CPU usage of BOINC on your computer for whatever reason, check tis out: http://mion.faireal.net/BES/
it works perfect for me, on single as well as dual core processor and is really simple to use.
This is coming to the BOINC
)
This is coming to the BOINC client/projects. The next version should have it built in.
On SETI General Preferences page has "Use at most 100 percent of CPU time", but this does not work, yet. This option being in the General Preferences means it will work with the BOINC software and work with all projects automatically.
Threadmaster Question. I use
)
Threadmaster Question.
I use threadmaster to limit CPU usage to control heat on a laptop.
With one exception, I am very happy using it.
I've noticed that Threadmaster keeps statistics on what programs your computer runs and how long they run.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\ControlSet001\\Services\\ThreadMaster\\Statistics\\Count
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\ControlSet001\\Services\\ThreadMaster\\Statistics\\Time
and the same in ContrlSet002
I see this as a privacy issue.
Are these statistics needed?
If not needed, is there a switch to disable them?
Thanks,
Jay
