While using Boinc 4.25 I was confronted with the following problem:
Somehow 16 WU's were downloaded/reported (in)to my Einstein Account. "Your Account" >> View Results >> "Results for user" >> shows a list of 16 Work Units, which are nowhere to be found inside my Boinc Manager.
I have installed Boinc version 4.45 and resetted the Einstein project several times. Nothing changed.
The problem is that I cannot do any work for Einstein (there are no Einstein-WU's in my Boinc-Manager) and I cannot download new WU's because my limit is 8....
Can anyone help to solve this problem? Thanks.

Spooky WU's: 16 WU's in "Your Account", but no WU's in "BOINC"

Resetting the project will not help. In fact, it will probably just serve to exacerbate your problem.
The short, and unpopular answer, is to wait until those 16 WU's error out, then you should be able to download more WU's.
It might help if we knew your resource share, BOINC version, and connect every X days are.

Hello, I have read in the

Hello,
I have read in the other thread:
I had a similar problem, where BOINC said "I have worked for one hour", while I had left the computer on and unused for eight hours while I was at work.
At last I disabled the BOINC screensaver (and every other screensaver), and now BOINC, after eight hours of works says that he has done eight hours of work.
I believe that the screensaver is dangerous for our health...

Why do you seem so surprised?? There are many threads in these lists documenting many problems with the graphics, including the fact that crunching can be drastically slowed down by wasted cpu cycles for older graphics hardware. The FAQ itself says the following:-
So I'm a bit puzzled as to why you think you have discovered something new??
Your experience with the graphics really has nothing to do with the subject of this thread, or the other thread you quote from, for that matter.
Cheers,
Gary.
RE: Resetting the project

agree totally, as soon as you can see some work in the local client work tab, please don't reset the project
actually the news is a little better than Jim suggests. Next day you get another quota of between 1 and 8 wu. As you download run and return these wu your quota will grow back up to 8 again within 3 days.
If it keeps happening, it means there is some problem in the network between your client and the server, so if you use a firewall make sure the firewall is not asking you for permission for the BOINC client (boinc.exe on a windows box) to contact some external site.
You say you were on version 4.25, so another thing that might help is your later upgrade to 4.45 - but 4.25 having gobbled up your quota it might still take another 24 hour before the change of client makes any difference, so don't assume immediately that your upgrade was a waste of time.
Maybe by the time you read this it has all magically started working: in which case give yourself credit for the delayed action effect of the upgrade!
The title of your post is interesting: you say it is spooky, fair enough! For a long time we have been calling these mystery work units "Ghost WU" so that is not so far off. If you'd like to know more, I suggest doing a keyword search on 'Ghost'. You will find more postings than you can possibly read!
Ghost wu happen to all of us occasionally, but if you never get any work then you need to continue checking where the problem has occurred.
If so, please do ask for more help and, as Jim suggests, come back with info like is this the only project on that computer? If not please tell us the resource shares. What have you set as Connect every X days? or have you simply left it as the default. (If you don't know the setting exists, you most likely left it as the default, which is fair enough, but it helps us if we know)

Jim, a word to the wise, as the holy writings say... I hope you receive these comments with the spirit they are intended: I enjoy the energy you put into replying to posts (including some of mine, elsewhere) and my feedback is intended to suggest how this can be even more effective than it already is.
Firstly, if the guy is new he may not know what the 'Connect every X' or 'resource share' is. OK, he has been crunching since Feb, but has he changed any settings or not?
So in reply to a 'help me get started' mesage it is also helpful to ask if they have changed any of the default settings in preferences. It they don't understand the q it is a big clue that they are running it straight out of the box, which is fair enough to get started. In fact I'd lay money that maybe 20% of all users never tweak anything and don't want to (unlike me who is a compulsive knob twiddler!)
Equally, before asking about resource share, it is helpful to ask if there are any other projects running on the same machine. If not, resource share is irrelevant.
Second, if the guy says he was running 4.25 and is now running 4.45, it will not inspire confidence if the first posting in reply asks him to say what version he is running.
with best regards

I guess I get a little ahead of myself. :( Start answering questions and they all start looking the same. :(
