It's 7am, but I'm too tired to comment on anything here.

I didn't bother to call attention to my museum adventures this week, but I will now. Seti train thread Not only might it garner the professional attention (or at least fatherly concern) of our good doctor, but the reply I made to myself yesterday is noteworthy.

And with that, I think I'll win and go back to sleep.

Wile E. Coyote was a joke

Wile E. Coyote was a joke shop owner somewhere in the middle of England. As a a bit of a prankster himself he would unleash the tools of the joke shop trade upon any, and every, kid that wandered into his premises.

However, as time passed and the repetitive nature of the pranks began to bore him he started thinking up his own pranks. And played them not only on the kids that visited his shop, but on the adults nearby to his shop. And soon, further afield.

The pranks started off innocent but began to take a dark and sinister turn as the months passed. Eventually the recipients received injuries until one day the worst happened.

Someone died.

The people of the city he lived in became a mob when the judge at his trial declared him innocent. They swore revenge and in the typical flaming pitchforks and and synchronised march, they made their way to his shop and set it alight.

Hearing shouts from inside the mob began to cheer. Until, that is, the roof of the shop opened and a blimp rose from inside. The crowd began to boo at the thought of him escaping and started throwing everything at hand at it.

Peering down the jokester laughed, safe in the knowledge that his hydrogen filled blimp would take him to safety. He heard a pop and turned just in time to see the hellish fire of the blimp explode, and catapult him halfway around the world.

Nearby an astronomer witnessed what happened and made some calculations. Informing the mob of where to find him off they went. Several weeks later he found himself surrounded and pleaded for mercy. They told him he would pay for what he did, and threw him into a black hole painted on a rock.

He has never been seen or heard from since.

I thought the last line was going to be, "and a train came speeding out of the hole and ran over him."

The week before that it was two black holes, but they merged.

Lots of severe weather going

Lots of severe weather going around me, but not directly over.

The Copa America soccer match (Chile vs. Colombia) was suspended for quite a while and 55,000 people sent down to the concourse of Soldier Field, but they say it will resume at 10:25 pm.

I've had broken leaf spring bracket in my left leg for years. There are strings you can get for tying them down properly. I use cable-ties.

Salt ! Salt ! Salt ! Specifically the correctly balanced electrolyte formulations aka Gatorade et al. Sweat is salt water and a good sweat gland can't help but excrete some salt. Low salt ( Potassium especially ) will give you I Feel Like A Piece Of Crap Wedged Onto A Stick Syndrome : lethargy, cramps, cognitive failure ( eg. voting left-wing ). The exact meaning of 'heat exhaustion' depends upon who you ask but the basic idea is that you run out of cooling fluid and one's core temperature starts to rise. This is worse if you are endomorphic ie. more interior volume with respect to surface area ( c/w ectomorphic ). Volume determines heat generation, surface area determines cooling rate.

Humans are evaporative coolers and one can misjudge the required intake. Days of low relative humidity give more fluid loss but better cooling efficiency ( for a given amount of water ) and the skin will feel dry because evaporation is rapid. Days of high relative humidity give less overall fluid loss, you will get alot more moisture on the skin ( it's not evaporating ) and thus less cooling. Air flow from fans aids evaporation thus cooling. Don't be shy to hit over one litre per hour of intake and gauge your status by urine color and strength of ( ammonia ) odour, that is go for plenty of light straw colored urine with barely a smell. If you go for over an hour without urinating then you won't know where you are with this. Typical urine production ( ie. by the kidneys ) for a well hydrated adult is 1 to 2 mls per minute ( where the bladder saves this up b/w pisses ).

Cheers, Mike.

Has somebody been brewing

Has somebody been brewing Potcheen or a batch of moonshine around here? Everyone seems under an inluence of something or other ..... And why **elevates nose AnnieT style** haven't I been offered a glass?

No it isn't!! It's one pee per pint after you start peeing after the second one. Every man knows that! Women of course go every 20 minutes to the ladies, but that has nothing to do with urinary requirements. It's usually to swap notes as in "Does your husband do that as well? Or "Don't fancy mine, wanna swop?". But of course the law of diminishing averages and whatnot says that the more expensive the drink the less volume you get, and the less they visit. It's a decision whether to keep 'em on 1/2 pints all night, and see less of 'em or put your hand in your pocket :-)

Still got it :-)

Must be an epidemic going around, or is it a pandemic? Might be endemic? Nope we need a paramedic, that the word I was looking for. Not much room in my back garden for a chute, but hey, we'll do the best we can.

Oi, where's that glass of whatever you lot are on? Just can't get the staff these days you know.

Export laws mainly. I'm onto Elon Musk at the moment about perhaps a launch at Wimmera and a controlled landing in South Kent. Stayed tuned.

{ HINT : it's the rocket fuel that you should take an interest in. }

{ BTW : Wimmera is in South Australia. There are remnants of facilities where the Aussies and the Brits got together to blow stuff up in the 1950's. }

Also known as the Law of Diminishing Returns, which means that on average you get less just because. No reason.

Pandemic is an epidemic where you panic. An epidemic is rather more relaxed form of mass death. Endemic is defined as where people die more rapidly than in a single episode of Game Of Thrones ( a shortened form of end-of-series-demic ).

What can I say ? Watch the sky for signs and portents, or more specifically rocket exhausts. BTW : could you tell Annie for me ? She still seems a tad miffed about the whole Waffle Iron Rocket Incident.

Cheers, Mike.
