Yes "For press not based in the Washington, D.C. area, this event will be simulcast live online ...............". For me that would be 2.30 am anyway. I'll read the ( good ) news in the morning then. :-)

Cheers, Mike.

I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...

... and my other CPU is a Ryzen 5950X :-) Blaise Pascal

Hallo! As far as I can see,

Hallo!
As far as I can see, this is only for press, no access for us. I feel very much sorry about.
So, I hope, we will become informed here by first hand, very soon after that event.

Kind regards and happy crunching
Martin

There will be a public live Webcast available. We'll publish the link here just before the start of the press conference so you can all follow along.

It is going to be around

It is going to be around 7:30am my time and my morning is closer to noon.

I was thinking about just reading about what happened or maybe somebody make a youtube version but I probably won't get myself to sleep just thinking about it (3:10am right now) but maybe my wife will wake me up since she is an early bird.

Not that she wants me up for Einstein news (she would rather have me sell all my computers but that won't happen)

So maybe I will get to catch the webcast.

Really wanted to tune in but

Really wanted to tune in but YouTube is blocked at work. Went to a coffee shop with WiFi and it was blocked there too. Is there a non-YouTube simulcast anywhere?

Also hoping that the result was found by Einstein@Home volunteers... this would be a huge and sorely-needed win for volunteer distributed computing.

E@H is looking for a different type of signal in the data, that's continuous and buried in the sensor noise until we throw billions of computer hours at it. A collision signal is a fraction of a second long and jumps out above the noise and is immediately visible. I snagged this imageo of the detection from a liveblog.

Much appreciated, and congratulations on the discovery. Someone or quite a few someones are going to Stockholm I'll bet. :^)
