a .5 x .5 should run 1 core ? its been running 2 cores sometimes . what can be done to run one core ?
The ".5" could be missing some decimal points, ie .5367892, meaning it could be slightly OVER the ".5" you see, resulting in 2 cores being needed to run 2 units.
What exactly do you mean by this statement. Are you talking about a GPU utilization factor set to 0.5 which gives you 2 concurrent tasks on your GPU? If so, that should reserve (ie. prevent a CPU task from running on) one of your host's CPU cores. You don't seem to have any CPU tasks from Einstein and you don't seem to be attached to other BOINC projects so you actually should have all 4 cores not running work, unless you are perhaps running work for somrthing other than a BOINC project. It would help if you were to tell us exactly what you are running and what you would like to change.

going out on a limb ... phrased as .5 x .5 leads me to believe you are using an app_config.xml (or less likely an app_info.xml). When BOINC is not working the way I expect it to based on my config file it typically ends up being my mistake :-)
Please copy / paste your config details here so we can help double check it is "exactly" correct. I recently managed to drop the leading < on the closing tag for cpu_usage and BOINC manager did not tell me it was broken, it just ignored it instead.

If you have set the GPU utilization factor to 0.5 in your Einstein preferences, then you have ONLY 1 CPU core being 'reserved' for GPU support duties.
If there is a second core not crunching, that's nothing to do with the 0.5 GPU utilization factor. Perhaps you have also set the different preference for BOINC to use only 75% of your CPU cores? If so, you could change that to 100% which would allow an extra core to crunch.
Another possibility is that you are not using the GPU utilization factor mechanism in your preferences at all, but have set up an app_config.xml file with inappropriate settings. Have you created an app_config.xml file in the Einstein project directory (folder)? If you have, what values did you choose for and ? If the values were 1 and 0.5 respectively, this would be reserving 2 full CPU cores for GPU task support. This is more than necessary for Einstein.
Can you please answer ALL these questions.
