I'm still confident about the end which is why I'm now doing this:

or maybe I'm doing this

Thank you on both counts. In fact, out of gratitude I have put in your missing K. I hope and trust your latest troubles with the various British public utilities are resolved.

Than you!! :) They are distinctly improved, yes.

Well, I need to go and amend the deducing mess I created the other day... and see where that gets me today... back in a bit...

Go ahead and second guess yourself. And you only get one free K.

Also, you might want to go back to the pair in the middle (as revised) and take it a tad more literally.

PanGlassionism - a widely

PanGlassionism - a widely critical view of all things glass
PongLassianism - ancient Scottish wooing tradition of wafting odours at ladies in the hope that they would succumb, one way or another, to one's charms
Panglossianism - a belief in shining your cooking receptacles.

edit: oh... apparently not...

It would appear I have stumbled across pangloss: a person who views a situation with unwarranted optimism... so I am going to hazard a guess and say you're probably going to tell me my first two words up there are wrong, aren't you...? :)

Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

Yes, I am going to do just that.

I may or may not also explain that I was rather busy at work today and haven't had a chance to do it until now.

Uh oh, Annie seems to be

Uh oh, Annie seems to be missing again.

In the meantime, here's the definition of panglossian. (I added the -ism.)

How odd! I was sure I posted

How odd! I was sure I posted the next word - but it appears I only did it in my head.

*beam disturbed smile at everyone*

Here we are!!

AEEIMNNOOPRSX

It has two letters already in their correct positions.

Awwwwww :) You're so welcome!!

Yes! I was sorting out stuff at home yesterday - with an added stuff I hadn't quite expected *goggle eyes at everyone* a determined hope/effort to save my son from having his worst birthday ever :((

Poor thing discovered just before leaving for uni at 7am that all four of his USB sticks containing his entire term's coursework (due to be electronically submitted tomorrow) were missing. As there has been so much transitioning between rooms with the most light and warmth in, the potential for them to be almost anywhere in the house could not be ignored, so wasn't *pained blink*

The good news is I found them... YAY ... but only after turning the house upside down, and everything in it, inside out. Y-e-e-e-s... they had fallen down the back of his bed into a small box inside a bigger box, which contained a collection of doctor who figures he'd been collecting up until about a decade ago, that were mostly the same colour as the sticks. Frustratingly, he'd been so upset when he left (late) that he forgot to take his phone with him - so he didn't know till he got home at 9pm :(

Apparently *fill with pride* it was the best birthday present he's ever received* :)

I'm trying to look at the house in the same way

*edit: which I'm sorry to say, relegated the Coxeter book to second :)

Thank you. And now I know what it is that I so strongly felt I was forgetting before I left the house this morning: the notepad on which I write these words down. I'll just have to make do with a yellow sticky note until I get home, I guess. Unless, of course, I solve it before then. In that case, I'll have to use another sticky note to write down the next word so I don't forget what it is before I get home.
