Hi!
If you feel like supporting a radio astronomy project via Kickstarter, this one has 26 days left to reach its 65k$ (AUD I guess) goal:
#TeamMopra - Save the Mopra Telescope & Map the Milky Way
I guess this story is along the same lines as the former plans to defund the Lick observatory (which since has received a generous donation from Google to keep it afloat IIRC) : With a focus on expensive big instruments (SKA !! ), smaller observatories are struggling. Perhaps it always was this way but smaller instruments are still needed for students and junior researchers to get their hands dirty on, I guess.
Disclaimer: please don't see this message as an endorsement for this particular project, I'd just like to spread the word what's out there. Make up your own mind whether this is worth supporting. AFAIK this project is completely unrelated to the AEI, MPG or E@H.

I read that Russian billionaire Yuri Milner has promised to give a hundred million dollars to pursue SETI research at Green Bank,Virginia, Parkes, Australia and Lick Observatory, California. Green Bank and Parkes are radiotelescopes. This through the Breakthrough initiative, sponsored also by Stephen Hawking.
