I have Overheating Problems on one of my comp.
WIN2000 Dual 1Ghz CPUs.
I tried ThreadMaster and here is my problem:
I follow the instructions and i tried to change the executable name but it's not working.
I try "einstein_4.79_windows_intelx86.exe"
"boinc.exe" boinmgr.exe" but none of these working.
What's the solution? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Overheating Problems-ThreadMaster
)
I've never used it, but there has been a lot of discussion about it on the S@H boards. Maybe doing a search for 'threadmaster' over there might answer some questions?
RE: I have Overheating
)
I have einstien@home running on a Notebook (and I didn't like the sound of the fan always running) so I am trying that threadmaster now myself.
threadmaster notes and download page.
Look at your TaskManager to see if you have the correct .exe name mine is albert_4.37_windows_intelx86.exe -- so check and be sure you are using the proper name. That needs to be entered into the seti.reg file supplied twice Once with the .exe and below it without -- you should not need to modify boinc and boincmgr settings at all! They use few CPU resources.
I just installed it and merged the .reg file and in about 30 seconds the fan grew quite and the program is using less CPU cycles and it is noticeably cooler. No guarantees!!! Your mileage may vary and I only promise to look back here in a few days to report success or failure (unless it explodes.)
To err is human; to really screw up requires a computer.
RE: ... the seti.reg file
)
What supplied seti.reg file? I decided it was easier to build a custom exceptions file and let everything else run under a global limit of 75% which worked for the machine that was getting hot on me. This is a headless cruncher WinXP Pro SP2 machine that basically just runs MBM, RealVNC and BOINC (all as services) so this is a minimalist list for a pure cruncher w/ many default Win services turned off. The need for explorer.exe, termsrv.exe and winmgmt.exe in the list is highly suspect but w/o time to test it I left 'em to be on the safe side.
Hope this might be of some use to somebody.
Here's my exceptions regedit file (delete all default installed exceptions 1st):
