Had considered appending this to the SpaceX thread but decided on a new thread instead.

Elon Musk is proposing a new form of transportation. You can read about it here

Don't banks employ similar technology for drive in customers?

I don't believe that Musk is

I don't believe that Musk is claiming originality - just resurrecting an old idea with a modern twist.

Seems like alot of maintenance to keep the seals tight so the 'car' can keep moving along.

I was concerned more with practicality than originality. Seems like, if it was a good idea, it would have been successful back then.

To me the electrical energy needed is much easier to control than some huge slug of compressed air need to move the cars along. Easier to slowly accelerate and decelerate too. Each tunnel would have to pressurized at some point making it really tough on any humans not in the cars.

I believe its a bit more

I believe its a bit more cleaner than pressuring a tube and sending a shuttle down it. As seen here it almost seems like the shuttles provide their own propulsion while riding on cushions of air. In such a set up there will be no cutouts in the tube for personnel to stand in to avoid a shuttle like in railroad tunnels. Also these things are capable of achieving 700mph. By the time you knew you had a problem it would have passed.

Yes each 'vehicle' having its own propulsion is much better.
