I wouldn't be surprised if this was again a driver problem. Albeit a different one than last time, as that resulted in invalid WUs rather than errors.

I'm eyeing a Skylake with 72 EUs.. but this leaves me slightly worried if there will ever be a working driver for it :/

Just a formal fix, the Linux 1.52 app bundle uselessly included the application binary of 1.40 as well. 1.53 shouldn't.

Is there a similar improvement in performance expected for BRP4G too, since it uses the same application?

That is a very good question. It's using the same application, but different search parameters, and to make things more complicated, the BRP4G tasks go out to a very special breed of GPUs (Intel GPUs integrated in the CPU, not dedicated GPUs ). Too many variables for me to make a good guess, we will try this later.

Since there have been quite a number of BRP4G tasks for dedicated GPUs during the past weeks (I have 200 BRP4G compared to 340 BRP6 in my task history) and there seems to be a lot of data available: will you update the BRP4G app to the new much more efficient app?

I unchecked BRP4G for my HD4000 as an easy work-around to only run the new app. I hope the slower chips out there are enough to finish those short WUs.

Well, the new (BRP4G) Arecibo data will last for only 10-14d. The original plan was to first focus on getting an app version out with a newer CUDA version, but this got somewhat delayed. I'll publish the current BRP6 1.52 app versions for BRP4G as "Beta" versions for now. As our download mirrors are quite busy over the weekend (syncing data for S6BucketFU2UB) this will take a few days.

Found a way to speed things up a bit. Done.

Thanks, I'm aware of that option. I try to let the project manage what kind of work needs to be done. I know it doesn't matter in the big picture of the project (but it also keeps my administration efforts at a minimum).

Hm the server status page says ~200 days for BRP4?! So I guess this is probably only for the CPU / Android part...

Anyway, thank you for getting out the Beta app so quickly! :)

BRP4 and BRP4G is actually the same data (Arecibo), the post-processing doesn't distinguish whether a task ran on GPUs or CPUs, and so doesn't the progress counter.

So, is there any noticeable benefit of 1.52 over 1.39 on BRP4G?

A quick glance on my completed tasks gives:
1.39 ~3500-4200 seconds/task
1.52 ~2500-3300 seconds/task

So at least for me there is a benefit with the new app, thank you!
