I'm still having the same message:
28.01.2015 20:40:34 | Einstein@Home | Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server
28.01.2015 20:40:38 | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
28.01.2015 20:40:40 | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
I agree, and despite the fact that it does run I can't get through myself. Right now I don't know what's wrong but I doubt that I'll be able to fix this tonight, I'm afraid. We'll look into it as soon as possible, tomorrow morning at the latest...

01/28/2015 12:21:47 PM | Einstein@Home | Scheduler request failed: HTTP gateway timeout

So am I. It's unusual to see a BOINC Scheduler take this long to reach working temperature, or whichever simile you prefer to use.

tracert reaches the server but there seems to be no HTTP server running or it is behind a firewall that blocks HTTP. Ping is blocked too.

Ok, it was indeed a missing

Ok, it was indeed a missing firewall rule. For some reason it wasn't yet made persistent and thus got lost due to the system reboot.
Bottomline, all should be fine now.
