As a former WINNER of a LPTP thread I am a permanent member of the Council and will of course veto any reduction in any Scooby Snax coming my way. Since I am a permanent member all if it takes is my veto to derail the whole thing. You can talk, but as long as I hold a veto nothing will be done about reducing Scooby Snax. Any protests about any possible conflicts of interest will also be vetoed and ignored. In short mikey LOVES his Scooby Snax and you ain't getting 'em back!!

Their idea is that they don't take as much from you, compared with the other highwaymen, when you have to stand and deliver. Apparently after they strip you of all your clothing when they come to call, you get a free pair of thongs to walk somewhere, so one is not entirely naked !! Really considerate people. Anyone come form a posse with me for these vermin ???

Now Rene is another outstanding guy, and his work certainly comes into play in physics. He invented the concept of a numerical co-ordinate system. I say numerical as one can have non-numerical ones like : beginning at the railway station go north, then take the third left turn after the basketball arena, and find the fifth house on the right opposite the 7-Eleven. That if you like is pure geometry and labeling of geometric entities ( points, lines, angles, planes ... ) that have an existence in their own right. Alas one cannot do too much detailed analysis though. Rene put numbering to such schemes and allowed the subsequent mixing with algebra. Plus much besides. Newton swallowed his work whole, but he had to run at it several times : reading and re-reading from the start, getting further in each time until he got bogged. He eventually got it. Time constraints aside I would recommend that approach ie. don't be too proud to go back to page one, rinse & repeat.
Interestingly tensor calculus can be viewed as a semi-return to geometric language by finding exact statements/invariants regardless of any particular choice of co-ordinate system. One still needs a co-ordinate system but one can withhold the precise choice until way late in some analysis, and then the rules of tensor calculus give an algorithmic approach to reveal some answer of interest. Einstein's use of it in GR was ideal, as one does need to describe the same universe from different viewpoints and yet still retain core truths unshielded by co-ordinate system quirks.
