Topic 197785

I have two computers each with the NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512 MB graphics cards. The one computer is Intel CPU i5 processor the other Intel CPU 2140. The first performs very well the other very poorly. I had hoped upgrading it to the GTX graphics card would improve its performance. It almost seems as if the GTC 9800 GTX processor is not used. Anything I can do to improve its performance or is the CPU more important than the GPU? Thanks for any comment, Danie

How important is the GPU?

The computer with the Intel 2140 CPU is only doing FGRP4 work on the CPU, it's not using the GPU at all.
The server logs for that computers last contact say it asked for 1 second of GPU work but was denied it because it has no free disk space available for Boinc.
Try changing the settings to allow Boinc to use more than 0.1 GB of your disk, a few GB should be enough is you have it available.

Hi Danie, The scheduler

Hi Danie,

The scheduler log on your 662 host shows the following:
2014-11-07 19:18:26.9681 [PID=2005 ] [version] driver version required min: -30100, supplied: 26658

The driver for this video card needs to be updated to at least version 30100 before it will be seeing any gpu work...

He has to do nothing of the sort, there are two plan_classes for drivers either side of the Buggy 295.xx/296.xx drivers:

I stand corrected and withdraw my response.
