RE: A Riddle wrapped in an
Pfft, that one is easy.
Melbourne Australia - Calculated impact zone of the Moon, with a total energy release of 562 zillion megatons.
Median angle of orbital decay of 47 degrees x 8.3746937465012904 to the 29th power.
Radiation released during said impact at end of August will result in all residents of said city with last names beginning with H-E-W-S-O-N morphing into werewolves by the end of September.
I win.

Hey, no dissing the werewolves man! Some of my best friends are ... err ... wrong, I have no friends. :-(
Actually if I'm at ground zero for a Lunar Splat I'd get a great, though brief, show. While that'd wrap it up for the lot of us no matter where, I would have a ringside seat! As I've mentioned before : just because it is The Apocalypse, that doesn't mean you have to be crap at it! :-)
Hey! I've just learnt there is a new Mad Max movie*. The original Mad Max was shot on the roads to the northwest of Melbourne ( near Heathcote to be exact ) - we are really ace at hosting end of the world movie productions - and the ambience has not vastly improved. You will still find** police interceptors being shot at by harpoon wielding SUV's and pickups, Bruce Spence throwing snakes down from a gyrocopter and napalm billowing around the district. Fortunately Tina Turner moved out in the 90's.
Cheers, Mike.
( edit ) Regarding nuthin' in particular : We have a super full moon on Monday, 11 August 2014 at 4:10 AM local time which is 10 August 18:10 UTC.
* But it's 100% original, right ? It's not like Max gets captured, loses his car, or there isn't another chase with a tanker truck or anything .... nor is Max a hardened sociopath that hates the world because he lost his family, but might be emotionally redeemed by acts of kindness to total strangers. None of that what-so-ever.
** Though it's only a weekday thing now. For the Cafe Latte & Chardy Brigades move in on the weekends ....
( edit ) After the original Mad Max was released sales of superchargers just boomed.
( edit ) Here's a crew that, for a modest fee depending on closeness of authenticity to the original Falcon XB with blower, will kit you out with a replica. If I was as rich as Jay Leno I'd have it next to the Mustang that Steve McQueen drove in Bullitt.
I have made this letter longer than usual because I lack the time to make it shorter ...
