You don't have to do anything necessarily. M$ have simply ceased to fix/fiddle with XP from now on. Your operating system still exists. Certainly if you were thinking of getting another computer, on other grounds, then the field is open. As with most things IT the choices depend upon what you might want to get up to.
By your remarks, what you may more urgently need is some effective security & browsing software.

Tried your link and it froze my pc. Of course it freezes everytime I touch te mouse. It needs a warm blanket more than software.
I don't want a new computer because I love my cpu's and they would be quite expensive in a new computer, no? I want to use my tower, add Windows 7, and add some memory and strength to it. Would have taken it already but the first guy's phone said he was disconnected, and so I'm going with another "chap" to use your venaculer (sp); that and dr's appointments, helping relatives, etc., have held me up.
Thank you for deleting the others posts. Don't know why, but there's nothing blocking this post. I tried a half-hour ago and it wouldn't let me use 3/4 of it to type.
Thanks for all your patience with me. If it weren't for Gary's telling me how good I was doing (several months ago) I would be so depressed. Seti/Einstein is the only thing this pc does right....

When you click and get a tone it means the keyboard memory is full and you must wait for a while before it will work again, if it ever does. Sometimes a reboot is the only way to fix it, sometimes you can wait it out. As for why it happens so often I think you need more system memory, your pc says: Memory 1022.09 MB
That means you only have 1 megabyte of system ram and your pc is slower then it could be if you added more ram. The problem will be that your pc is not a new one and has physical limitations built into it that can't be overcome without new parts. Those parts include a new cpu and motherboard, if you are going to replace those anyway it could be cheaper to just get a new pc and let it last you another 4 or 5 years or so. Your pc guy should be able to find you one that CAN also hold your old hard drive as a secondary drive so no data is lost. They also make programs now that work pretty well to transfer your old data to a new machine.

If this is a serious post your web browser seems is seriously f*cked up - and who knows what else about the system. Repairing it might take a very long time (since it's surely very slow). A new Windows installation might be urgently needed.
If you reinstall you might as well switch to a modern OS. I highly recommend Win 8.1 over Win 7, because it makes better use of the hardware (i.e. would run better on your old system) and will be supported longer, as well as all the nice small things it does better.
However, neither of them will run good on your hardware. You could get a nice new system in the 300 - 500$ range. To upgrade your old one I'd say you'll want at least 2 GB RAM instead of 1 GB (the mainboard should be able to take this, the outdated memory will cost something, though) and an SSD because even modern HDDs are just too slow as a system drive.

I screwed up a lot of stuff...
Trouble now is that I can see my tasks, the same ones I had when I left.
I had so many icons for Grid Republic and must have deleted the right one. The one I have now says I suspended task, which I did because it was not the same spot I had - was in the process of doing 2 tasks.
My GRD does not match my tasks, although for a while it did. Grid kept telling me to go to synchronize with GD under "Tools" but there was no "tools" on that page.
This is so hopeless.
Why hasn't my change to W 7 in effect, and the guy who installed it said he put in 3 G's whatever they are...

In the other thread Claggy found your problem, two accounts, apparently your new pc got logged onto Boinc with a different email account, follow his directions on how to fix it.

He means that he put 3 gigabyte of main memory into your PC to make it run faster (modern programs often require lot's of memory).
Regarding the rest of your problem: try to follow Mikeys / Claggys advice. Otherwise.. I don't know what you mean by "Grid Republic", "GRD" and "GD". Some of it probably refers to BOINC, the program we're using to attach to (different) projects and crunch through those work units. Anyway, you seem a bit confused about all this (no offense meant!). So if you need further assistance it might be best to provide us with screenshots so we see exactly what you see.

The best advice I can give you regarding the transition from XP to 7 is: relax! Don't try to make everything work exactly as it did before. Explore the new features and make use of them - it really does simplify everyday work. A few examples:
- launching a program which is not in the "quick launch": simply hit "win" and start to type the first 2 or 3 letters of the name. This will trigger the search and will show you everything matching within an instant (the first call will take some seconds, especially on a slow HDD). There's almost never a need to search through the start menu (the same applies for 8/8.1)
- pin your frequently used programs to the task bar. You can start them very quickly (again no need to search or minimize everything to get to the desktop) and they're more compact than in XP
- for recently used files: right-click a program pinned to the taskbar to see a list of the last 10 files opened with that program
- searching something in control panel? Again, simply type the first few letters into the search box in the control panel.
... there's obviously a lot more, but these are IMO extremly useful features. Once I got used to them it felt really cumbersome to work with XP again.
