Today (and possibly tomorrow) we will move the Einstein@Home servers located at the AEI to a new rack. You may experience shortage of FGRP or BRP tasks (a few h max) or short, transient problems in up- or downloading tasks (< 1h), but nothing that the clients won't recover from automatically.

For the curious a few details of the move:
The Einstein@Home servers that previously were scattered across a couple of racks in the Atlas cluster room have been collected in a single rack where they now all share a couple of useful features:
- a dedicated switch that somewhat decouples them from possible problems or limitations in the Atlas cluster network
- power from two completely separated UPS systems
- automatic doors: in case of a failure of the rack's liquid cooling system the doors will open and the servers will be cooled by the environmental air
Yesterday we moved only the server machines. There are a couple of other (build & test) machines that will be collected in nearby racks in the next few days, while we rearrange other machines for the extension of the Atlas cluster.
Ironically, two machines (Mac Pros) named "Trillian" and "Eddie" will be among the last to reach their final places.

Eddie and Trillian, together with Marvin (a G4 MacMini located elsewhere), are the last remaining machines that I bought when I was working at the AEI in Potsdam and named after characters from "The Hithhikers Guide to the Galaxy", and took with me when I moved to AEI Hannover.
Newer machines that were bought in Hannover are named after characters from the British sitcom "The IT crowd" (Moss, Roy, Denholm, Douglas, Richmond ...), or from the Pixar movie "Toy story" (well, actually after the codename of the version of Debian that they run, which in turn is taken from Toy Story).
These machines are used to build and test the Einstein@Home applications on different hardware and OS versions, and are not used continuously. So we are much more flexible when we have to move them, which usually leads to these being moved last.
