Side note: WHQL actually stands for "windows hardware quality lab-or-something". So I don't think there is anything like that on linux.. but that's just wording. If nVidia said it's a stable long-term support driver, that should be all we need to know.

The 331.20 drivers are available at launchpad for various flavors of Ubuntu. you can see them here: here. Scroll down when on the page.
Edit: at the top of the PPA link above are instructions on how to "add" this PPA to your Linux system if you desire to do so.

I did also wonder why nVidia used WHQL on the forum here.
NVidia are saying it is ¨Recommended Version¨now and it seems stable, so hopefully we will get to try some CUDA 5.5 tasks soon.
I have not seen any unexpected errors or issues since installing.
