A short summary of what I've done in the last weeks

1. Android devices: in response to the Android discussions (low performance)
my overclocked cm-odroid (Arm9 4core @ 2GHz) is attached to pogs only; has reached a RAC which puts him to rank 748 in the top_hosts_list. Project has 7178 active hosts. CPU-jobs only.
my Harmony (a POV Android 2.1 device with only 0.3GB ram, MW is the only project running on that device) is currently used as radio-alarm-clock and runnung 7/24 MW. Has reached a RAC of 612.57 there (just outside the top 10000 out of 34703 active hosts), which is quite good for a 2core 1GHz device.
my odroidxu (Arm15 4 core @ 1.8 GHz) is attached to Einstein, running there since > 3 weeks, RAC is 541 now. Should reach ~650 when stabilized, but will stop then and try Linux on that device. Draws ~ 7 Watts 'out of the wall'.

2. some weeks ago I asked about first impressions of the GK208 chip, which is driving the new GT630 cards. Since I got no answer, I bought one (~52 €). This device adds < 19Watts to the energy budget, runs 6 Arecibo wu's per day or 2 Perseus wu's in ~ 22hrs.
There where posts about poor driver performance of the latest official driver. So I installed the latest beta, which gave much better results. Running 2 Perseus wu's will finish in < 21 hrs and the Arecibo in 6-7 hrs (always 2 wu's together). Is currently attached to GPUGRID. The host is http://einsteinathome.org/host/9133530

3. There were discussions about performance differences between Win and Linux. I want to 'learn Linux', so I took my old Abit PC ( a Athlon 2core @ 2.5GHz) and made a dual boot system. Win7/64 and Linux Ubuntu 13.10 64Bit.
I ran 10 pog wu's under win7 and 10 wu's under Linux. Average win runtime is 14316 sec/wu, average Linux runtime is 12646 sec/wu.
Since Einstein wu's run much longer the results will take some time.

4. My first steps with Linux: OK, installing a dual boot system is not a miracle, installing Boinc, adding projects aso looks familiar for a windows guy. So far no problem.
But whenever I asked a question (or googled) the answer was - open a terminal window. OK, a long time windows user clicks here, there and everywhere - no icon with the name 'terminal'. OMG, it really took a long time to find out that ctrl-alt-T is the solution!
The next thing was my question how to install and run the NEON app on my odroidxu under Linux. I had the download page from Albert open and showed them what can be downloaded. Two regular Linux users filled my head up with questions about other binaries, how this is compiled, is it compiled and so on. No idea what they wanted to know from me.
When I start with that I will open a Linux help desk thread in the Getting Started section.
I want to add a nVidia card into that system, so I asked some guys how to install the appropriate drivers. Use the packet installer was the usual answer. But if I want to use beta drivers, how can I do that? If one wants to hear 'absolute silence', my advice is to ask this question.
It looks like that this will be a little adventure.

A short summary

There is an 'icon' and program named terminal. If you're using Ubuntu you just hit the Super (win) key and type terminal. Ctrl + Alt + T is a shortcut for it.

Installing NVIDIA drivers manually in Linux is a pain. For the most part, you can get newer drivers installed simply through xorg-edgers PPA or installing the driver from official repos in Ubuntu. Otherwise, you have to download it from NVIDIA's website and follow their instructions.

Also, you may want to look here for asking questions: http://askubuntu.com/

Have now the numbers:
2 CasA under win 79057 average
2 CasA under Linux 62410 average
