I am a new "member." I looked over the screensaver page. I did not see anything about one of the items in SOME not all of my screensavers. It is a silver disk with lines dividing it into thirds. What is this?

Thanks

Silver disk in graphics

It's a representation of the Arecibo radio telescope used to collect the raw data that's being analysed by the BRP applications.

In addition to the "silver

In addition to the "silver disk" (I thought it was a "grey peace symbol") I also see an unexplained "right angle" that looks just like the symbol for the LIGO at Livingston University (which is green) except this one is grey. There is no explanation for it either in the screensaver info posted at http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/starsphere.php

Hi, the grey L-shaped

Hi,

the grey L-shaped thingy in the sky next to GEO600 symbolizes the Virgo gravitational-wave detector near Pisa, Italy. That is also the reason why it is close to GEO600.

Cheers,
Benjamin
