I have at least 3 tasks that Anonymous is doing with me - and when I look up his tasks, they say something about application - Anonymous Platform...
I don't recall having the same partner until just recently.

Same partner - is this unusual?
)
If you go to your account and then to the Einstein@home preferences there is an option to either hide or show your computers here on the website. If you choose not to show them and someone tries to look at your computers they appear to belong to "Anonymous" and if someone clicks on your username there won't be a link to your computers. This is mostly not needed and can be bad if you have questions about your results or if you need support.
So there could be and probably is more than one user behind the name "Anonymous".
The "Anonymous platform" is a function in Boinc where one can use their own application to process the data. It can among other things be used to support other platforms and operating systems then those normally supported by the project.
As for the question in the thread title then it depends.
For the Gravity wave search then it's quite usual to be paired with the same users because of how this project distributes its data. You download a big set of data files and then when you ask for more work you get instructions on how to analyze this data in many tasks. This big dataset is downloaded by a "small" number of computers who then share it until it's fully analyzed, then you get another big dataset.
The other searches (BRP4, BRP5 and FGRP2) download new data for every task and the chance to be paired with the same user is much smaller.
Thanks for the quick

Thanks for the quick reply.
But it doesn't make sense to me to use an anonymous name. What's the harm in using a phony "nick" like mine..and "hiding" computers - is that a thing one does to keep others from copying their computer make, style, and perks to enhance performace and lead the herd?
And if there are more than one Anonymous partners - would their Computer ID number be the the same?
So much to learn . . .
It's the project servers that
)
It's the project servers that names anyone who hides their computers "Anonymous" to everybody else, they do have a nick just like you and me but you can't get to it by clicking a link to one of their computers. The computer IDs are always unique for every computer attached to the project.
If you were to click on my name to the left of this post you could then click on a link to watch my computers, if I had chosen not to show them then the link would change to the word "hidden". And if you knew one of my computer IDs and got to it's page then the server would show Anonymous instead of Holmis as the owner.
You might want to hide your computers if you work for some company that tests new systems and runs Boinc as one of those tests. Or you might just be a bit paranoid. =)
Thank you so much. I'm

Thank you so much.
I'm afraid that it's me that's paranoid :)
