Topic 196856

One of my hosts: http://einsteinathome.org/host/2174257
is getting no work.
I tried to refresh by clicking "aktualisieren" -it did not help, it still gets no new tasks.
I tried to refresh by clicking "zurücksetzen" - same result.
Then I removed Einstein and started that project again - it downloaded one WU ( Host is capable to crunch on two), after finishing it was granted with credit but no new WU was downloaded.
I repeated that procedure again with the same result.
I started benchmark to check if the project then would accept the two cores- nothing happened.
Why does this special host does not get more wu's and why does it only got 1 wu?

Thanks for help.

Host gets no work

From the "Last contact" log of that host, I'd guess it's because of "No disk space available" ;-)

I changed the leave disk

I changed the leave disk space free size and I put some stuff off the hdd.
Now there should be enough space, but still no work.

Help!

Help!

The disk settings can be a bit hard to wrap ones head around.
I'll try to explain what's going on here.

The important lines from the latest scheduler log for host 2174257 as of this post:

[pre]2013-03-21 07:49:47.5984 [PID=2542 ] [send] No disk space available: disk_max_used_gb 1.00GB disk_max_used_pct 50.00 disk_min_free_gb 10.00GB
2013-03-21 07:49:47.5984 [PID=2542 ] [send] No disk space available: host.d_total 74.52GB host.d_free 6.36GB host.d_boinc_used_total 0.04GB
2013-03-21 07:49:47.5984 [PID=2542 ] [send] No disk space available: x1 0.96GB x2 37.22GB x3 -3.64GB x -3.64GB[/pre]
Your settings tells Boinc to use at most 1 GB of disk space while at the same time it has to leave at least 50% of the total disk space free and leave at least 10 GB free.
The last log line says that Boinc can use 0.96 GB more according to the maximum allowed disk space (x1), it can use 37.22 GB of disk space according to the 50% setting (x2) but it has to leave at least 10 GB of free disk space and there is only 6.36 GB free disk space on that drive so x3= -3.64 GB.

To fix this problem I would set the leave at least 10 GB free to something like 1 GB.

Take note that if you are using the local preference settings in Boinc manager these will override the web settings, if you are there will be a line in the event log among the startup messages saying something like "reading preferences override file".

I know that this is an old

I know that this is an old thread, and some forums don't particularly like old threads to resurface for whatever reason, but I'm posting here since I don't wish to create a new thread for an issue already covered by this one.

That said, I'd like to know if there's a convenient way to remove enough unwanted/old cache/log files from Einstien@Home, to make room for new WUs. Looking at a recent log it seems that my computer too is having hard-disc space issues with regard to E@H. While I could simply change the preferences of the application so that it takes some more space, I was wondering if it could also be kept 'in shape' within existing limits.

With Regards,
Navneeth

Thank you. All that I had to do was reset the project. :)
