I had set the GPU utilization factor to 0.333 and BOINC ran 3 BRP apps simultaneously. Then I set the factor to 0.5 and, as I expected, only 2 tasks were run at a time. Now I set the factor back to 0.333 (and updated the project), but still 2 tasks are running now for about 3 hours and nothing is changing. BOINC manager's status column shows "Active (0.2 CPUs + 0.5 NVIDIA GPUs)". Does anyone know the reason?

All wu's downloaded during the '0.5' - time will run with these settings. When they are finished, the wu's downloaded after returning to 0.333 will run 3 together.

I thought it updated to the new settings the next time the host contacted the servers? (so that after an update, the next job that runs will run with the new settings).

Not needed here to change the GPU usage, but yes - it's a useful tool (needing BOINC v7.0.42 or higher) if you wish to limit the maximum number of concurrent tasks for some reason.
If you change the GPU utilization factor of BRP apps using the website preferences here, the change is passed down to your computer and takes effect the next time you request, and are allocated, new BRP tasks. Once your computer has the new setting, it applies to all tasks in your cache, not just the newly downloaded ones.

Hi all,
I am new to Einstein and this is my first post. I only use GPUs for Einstein, and want to crunch two BRP units on one of rigs while the default setting of 1 is good for the rest. I believe I need an app_info file for this system alone as setting the BRP value in my account page will affect all my machines. Will the app_info example given above be sufficient or do I need any more codes in it?

No, you don't.
You can set up up to four distinct sets of project preferences - default, Home, School and Work - via your Einstein@Home preferences page.
Set up one of the 'venues' to suit your two-at-a-time host, and change the location (for that computer alone) via the control at the very bottom of its 'http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=' page.
It's quicker, easier and safer than creating a full app_info.xml file.
