I'm very sorry you are having this problem. If you're willing to persevere just a little more, I'm sure you can solve this.

What part of Oz are you from? I'm in Brissie and if you just happened to be from around here, I'd gladly come and sort it out for you.

I notice you are using Windows 7 (which I've never used) but it can't be too different to WinXP. These days I use Linux so my Windows skills (if I ever really had any) are quite rusty. However I do remember that with XP there was a setting to force Windows explorer to stop hiding file extensions. I'm just wondering if your config file is actually called 'cc_config.xml.txt' but because Windows is hiding the extension it appears to be called 'cc_config.xml'. If you use Windows explorer to browse to the folder where you have placed the config file and if you hover the mouse pointer over the file, do you get a tool-tip showing information about that file - like its full name and file type for example? I imagine its type should be 'xml' and not 'txt'. If the file is in the correct folder and BOINC says it can't find it, then the file just has to have either a wrong name or wrong permissions so that perhaps BOINC isn't allowed to read it.

It would be very helpful if you would copy and paste the startup messages from the event log into a new message here thanks. Maybe there's something else in those messages that will explain things. For example, BOINC usually announces which account name it is running under.

Please don't give up just yet :-).

Cheers,
Gary.

Normaly the problem is... Bacause the hiden file extension function of windows and Your notepath automaticaly normaly add a .txt at the end of the file name, if that you case, rename the file (take out the .txt extension) then it will work.

If you can´t able to put to work, PM your e.mail an i will send you a working file with the right extension.

I think it's about time we had some pictures to show what might be going on.

Both images from Windows 7. On the left is the default setting: the file looks as if it's called 'cc_config.xml', but it's described as a 'Text Document'. Like this, there's no way to correct the problem...

...except by going to the 'Folder Options' tool in the Control Panel. Untick the box for 'Hide extensions for known file types': then you can see the errant '.txt', and you can rename the file to remove it:
