How does the computer deterimine credit? I am curious because mine seems to insist that it wants only 40 credits while most everyone else I see is getting at least 80-110 credit. Also, I have and differences in claimed and granted of up to 45 credits. Is there something wrong with the way I am running the program?

Credit issues

First the general information:

The (very good) manual for Boinc is the BOINC Powered Projects Documentation by Paul D. Buck and the FAQ therein.

For information regarding Credits look here!

And now the specific:
Benchmark calculation was broken with the outdated 4.19 client, Win cheated with some kind of shortcut and recived a higher value. It's repaired now, but the old client is still in use.

I see that, but if it is

I see that, but if it is based on computing time, mine takes 9 hours just like one of my friends but she gets 2-2.25 times as much credit as I do. Might this have to do with the fact that I have a hyper-threading processor but run only one project at a time?

"Besides, one computer may have built-in capabilities that another computer's processor does not have"
May my processor have some technology that I don't know about too that would lower credit?

May be, but as I don't have one, I can't say from experience.
AFAIK HT processors tend to claim less, as benchmarks uses the whole processor, and WU only half. But I may be wrong.

I shall keep that in mind.

I shall keep that in mind. If that is so, then it is not cool because when it downloads two projects to run at the same time they take 16 hours rather than 9. Oh well.

But 2*9=18, and that's more than 16.
What I know from hearsay on the different fora, running HT gives you up to 1.6 times advantage.
