I show approximately 800 WUs on my account pending - waiting on validation. One I completed on Oct 9 and is still awaiting validation. On the server stats page you show 19,750 tasks waiting validation. Am I seeing this right or am I way off base?! Do I have 4% of all pending validations???

General Question to Admins on Pending WUs
)
No, it's not like that. Most of the 800 "pending" results of yours are actually waiting for a second volunteer's computer to submit its result so that both results can be validated.
The 19,750 workunits (not tasks) waiting validation that you saw on the status page is different: those are workunits where already two results (the minimum quorum) have been submitted, and now those workunits are waiting in a queue for the validator to have a look at them. (The backlog that you see there is actually higher than normal at the moment, we are working on that. ) Still most of your 800 pending jobs are unrelated to this, they are waiting for other volunteers, not the validator as such.

OK. Thanks for the information. Just asked because my pending queue keeps increasing.
Thanks,

And I thought my 300 pending was a lot :)
Maybe lowering the timeout would help the throughput? Or are there many machines out there that need 2 weeks to complete a workunit?
Well, I don't think I have

Well, I don't think I have had so many WU's waiting for validation too...
The folks must be working on something because for the first time in ages, none of my boxes are getting any more work...

RE: RE: I show

As a project we want to be "nice" to a wide range of volunteers who want to donate their computing time.
This includes
* volunteers with older hardware,
* volunteers who contribute to a lot of different projects at the same time and who generally do not like if a task goes into "high priority mode" (soonest deadline first), because they feel that this is like jumping the queue even tho BOINC, in the long run, will make sure (via the "debt" system) that resource shares between projects are respected
* volunteers who use BOINC only a couple of hours per day and only on some days of the week. Remember, not all volunteers are running BOINC 24/7 !
Given those constraints, I don't see us lowering the deadline in the near future.

Is it not possible for BOINC
)
Is it not possible for BOINC to scan the WU's that we have on our computers, and begin crunching first those WU who are already reported by the first volunteer?
In that way the project won't have to wait so much time for the results to clear, and won´t have a lot of WU waiting for the second volunteer to be validated?
I don't know at einstein, but at seti they have more than 6Millinos results already returned and waiting for validation (the second volunteer).
You're not alone. My PC's are

You're not alone. My PC's are so backed up they need a Boinc enema. Not seen much "movement" since this AM. Pun intended. ;) I have actually stopped uploads as well as moved the faster GPU's to another project. Kinda kills the fun of a challenge.
