Hi!

NASA has a new, somewhat racy, video online about the complexities involved in the upcoming Entry-Descent-Landing sequence of the "Curiosity" Mars rover.

"It still looks crazy"

I remember trying to land on the Moon with a rocket on my TI99/4A home computer. The height and entry speed were variable, and so was he lunar landscape, with mountains and plains. If I fired the rocket too soon I would finish the fuel and crash, If I delayed firing I would crash also.Very intriguing.

We cross the fingers, that there is no error in the computer code and the assumptions about the atmospheric behaviour are sufficiently accurate - winds etc.

Congratulations to JPL/NASA

Congratulations to JPL/NASA and all the scientists and engineers involved in this project. That's an exciting milestone and hopefully the rest of the mission will be just as smooth as the landing appears to have been. Well done!!!
