You must work for Einstein project. Refer to my previous mention about useful posts.

This board is a repeat of the

This board is a repeat of the seti board. Cheerleaders and whiners are the two categories.

Here's the deal.

Einstein has bigger wu's or longer crunch times for the wu's. In order to keep seti from running they have set the deadline closer then seti. Therefore seti doesn't run. How does this happen? It takes so long to crunch einstein that you never get a chance to start on seti's units. By the time the einstein units are done I have passed the deadline on the seti's. I really think the einstein guys need to stop CHEATING boinc. It's not for your personal use. Correct the issue. Your units take longer to crunch so you need to extend your deadline.

My suggestion is to allow einstein about 10 minutes a day to run. Then suspend and run another project. Until they figure out how to play nice.

not true on the recent versions of BOINC. Download the latest and the client will schedule around this ok, running each project to get the deadlines in, and if one project gets more than its fair share then the client automatically blocks itself from downloading from that project for a while, till the balance is redressed.

no, E@H have needs for a quick turnround (due to data server issues that have been well reported on these boards), so they use the deadline system to get what they need. BOINC gives all projects that flexibility. It is not cheating to select whatever settings are allowed by BOINC.

[edit]: and anyway: just who's the freeloader here, how many wu have you crunched for E@H before posting on our boards and insulting my colleagues?

My suggestion is for you to stop postijng on our boards till you figure out how to post nice.

Or in your own tactful phrasing: If you don't have anything helpful to add then shut up

Thing is, I actually agree with you. I have suggested in the past that the deadline be extended a little. But I don't like the agressive way you make the point. Despite the fact that I agree with you, I find yourpost makes me sympathetic to the guys you are attacking. With that coming from 'my side' of the argument I start to feel like changing sides.

More to the point, that sort of bullying is never going to change people's minds, it just gets their backs up.

The project have made decisions that they are allowed to make. To my mind they are mistaken, but that is what it is, a mistake, like all of us make sometimes. They are not bad people, they are not stealing, nor are they treating BOINC as their personal toy.

Einstein people put a lot back into BOINC and the fact that both of us disagree with them on one point of policy does not reduce that contribution

I suggest two things...

1- Run a newer version of the CC. The scheduler is better about ensuring deadlines are met. It also keeps track of how much CPU time a project has used over the long term. So after you do a stretch of E@H, it won't download any more E@H until the other projects have caught up.

2- Use a smaller cache. It sounds like you're downloading too much work.

Didn't know it was your board.

Like I said before...only two people on these boards, cheerleaders and whiners. I cheer for the whiners.

I like so many others, am sitting here wondering if I really want to crunch for 24+ hours on their data. Don't worry I have four wu's just for you and then bye bye.

Database is full so they need to send larger blocks of data (sorry anyone with a modem) and have powerful machines crunch the data to get it under the deadline because of the full database (celerons need not apply). So basically if they chopped up the data and sent smaller units and kept the same deadline, which of course would allow us to download more, they would still have the same database problem? Huh...go figure. Of course they have a few users not actually doing anything type of issue.

in database 92,498
with credit 48,426

Sorry to tell you but a project that is in need of number crunching should make it so people want to crunch the numbers. I'm sorry that we can't live up to their expectations and all have 120 systems with dual xeon's, but what the hey.

As far as freeloading goes....
Of course you keep on pushing the one and only project...oh wait a minute...you did help on the pirates. Good job of being one sided. How do you know so much about all these different projects if you only got stats for one? Multiple accounts? Oh there it is. You got predictor too, huh? Nice to see you get all 7 units up on the board this week. Brings you up to 426. Over 16,000 for e@h. Do you work for them and just got a few credits elsewhere to shore up your ability to comment about how you know more?
Let's table it
50 for pirates
426 for predictor
16000 for e@h

Do me a favor and when you get 16,000 on every single project then tell me about how well each behaves amongst the rest. I am whining about this project and obviously you are cheering for it...whether it is worth it or not you will cheer. But before you start squawking about which project does what, do a little more work. I got almost 250 on predictor in 24 hours so basically you have run e@h ONLY. Took me 12 hours to figure out what was wrong and you are hiding behind it.

I run P&S cause they don't suck. Climate going to get the PII. e@h may get the 486. :P

Read my post again.

Your 432 on Predictor, big whoop I got 242 in 24 hours and now letting seti run along with E&H. You got 50 with Pirates...a dead project. All you run is E&H in OTHER WORDS. Now get off my back. Stop cheering for a project that is the only thing you run. And stop thinking because you have a few pieces of a project that takes no time at all to get, that makes you an expert.

I'll keep on posting them til I get a result from E&H. Probably sometime today...maybe. Let's go ahead and take a reading right now though on what I have and what you have.

seti me 5887 you 0
eh me 0 you 16006
predictor me 242 you 432
LHC me 0 you 0
Climate me 0 you 0

You have been on boinc a long time and haven't done anything but crow for einstein. So you are the one who needs to be QUIET. Like I said when, you start getting results from other projects...and not just 7 on predictor in a week...then you tell me whats up. Until that moment STFU. Just so you know I am also letting climate run buts its share is way down. I have to put einy to the moon to get it to run.

SO MY POINT ONCE AGAIN IS GET OFF YOUR CROSS, WE NEED THE WOOD.

I trust other readers to figure out if these words better fit your stats or mine.

Carry on posting if you like, it won't affect me, I'm out of this thread.

Classic case of round hole square peg, if I have ever seen one.........Or maybe it is the rectangular hole and the triangular peg, one never knows, I am a cheerleader for BOINC, and I am proud of that fact.......
