I've found that getting any CPU workunits at all is more sensitive to the resource share you give Einstein@home than it is for BOINC projects that don't offer any GPU workunits at all.
Once I set up the school settings for my laptop, disabled it from getting workunits at all from other BOINC projects, and worked out how to set its Einstein@Home location to school (this last step not easy to find), a gamma-ray workunit was the next workunit downloaded.
I currently plan to switch back and forth between CPU-only settings and GPU-in-use settings for my laptop for at least long enough to get more familiar with the Einstein@Home CPU workunits, while still avoiding the overheating problems.
I have been getting plenty of work units for this but now I notice that the the work for the macbook pro from before 9 August seems to be marked invalid. Has the Darwin version got an incompatibility with the windows versions?
I am not a credit junky but I think 200 points is way too low for these units. That is, Gravitational Wave ubits yield about 250 points and take about 40% of the time.

Thanks for the feedback. There are currently two problems with the LAT search that I'm aware of, one is the credit allocation and the second is a cross-platform validation problem between Macs and the other platforms. Both problems are currently investigated by the project staff, I would suspect that the validation problems have a higher priority right now. Stay tuned.

@ Bernd - now that we have three different classes of application running on the project, and Fermi-LAT tasks are still much rarer than the other two, it's getting quite difficult to pick out and monitor results for a particular application. I know you have a long-term project (perhaps stalled while the new apps roll out) to upgrade the entire website, but in the meantime would there be any possibility of importing the result-display-filtering code in newer copies of results.php? There was a further useful modification a couple of months ago, in [trac]changeset:23624[/trac], to add task counts to the filter links in the page header - you can see the combined effect at seti. I'd particularly like the ability to filter the user task list down to Fermi-LAT only, for quick monitoring.
I'm not sure that the new web code would work with the pre-credit_new DB layout that we are still using, and I don't think we currently have the time to manually backport single features. Could you do me a favor and add this to the wish list forum, so it won't be buried and forgotten?
