Having realised that the apparent "slowdown" is due to 16 PCI-E lanes being shared by two cards, so I'm not buying anything... Till the PRO-Sandy Bridge is launched (?)

By spreading my three GPU's amongst my PC's I can keep them each running flat-out.

Stuff the electricity bills !

You could always get this motherboard:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6792254&CatId=4068

It has 7 pci-e 16 bit slots on it!!!

yes, but if im reading this ntel® 5520 Chipset Spec's correctly only 36 pci-e "lanes" so still only two pci-e x16 cards could run at full power, not 7.

seeing without seeing is something the blind learn to do, and seeing beyond vision can be a gift.

The online manual says:
1 – PCI-E x16/8 slot
2 – PCI-E x8 slot
3 – PCI-E x16/8 slot
4 – PCI-E x8 slot
5 – PCI-E x16/8 slot
6 – PCI-E x8 slot
7 – PCI-E x16 slot
PCI-E x16 Slots
These seven PCI-E x16/x8 slots are reserved for graphics cards, and x1/x4 devices. The bandwidth of the x16 slot is up to 4GB/sec (8GB/sec concurrent). The design of this motherboard supports up to Four PCI-E graphics cards using NVIDIA’s SLI technology with multiple displays.
When installing a PCI-E x16 card, be sure the retention clip snaps and locks the card into place. If the card is not seated properly, it could cause a short across the pins. Secure the card’s metal bracket to the chassis with the screw used to hold the blank cover.

Okay then...is it faster or the same speed when crunching 2 units at once? I mean if you crunch 1 unit it takes x amount of time but you said you are now crunching 2 units at once, so is it taking twice as long now? Or are you doing 2 units in the same amount of time it used to take to crunch only 1 unit?
