Hello,

I noticed that a new WU SGC1HF takes almost 13 hours to complete on my i7 860. The "old" Global co WU took 8 hours to complete. Both gives me the same amount of credit.

The granted credits should be increase by 60 % for the new HF WU, don't you think ? Or there is a reason that explain why both WU give the same amount of credit ?

Thanks for your advice.

Merry XMas.

S5GC1HF Credits

Hi!

This is a bit strange, the runtimes on your i7 are considerable longer than those on comparable systems, even for those that are clearly operating in hyperthreaded mode. You can also compare your runtimes to those of your wingmen, crunching the same WUs as your PC does. Except for the most ancient hardware, they are all faster.

Are you underclocking your hardware?

The application used for the latest GC1HF run is almost identical to the one used for the GC1 run (just minor improvements) and also the parameters are not that different, it's just supposed to be a continuation of the previous run into higher frequency ranges.

Hello, No, I didn't under

Hello,

No, I didn't under or over clock the proc. My computer is doing his best.
And I'm using a régular Boinc Client, version 6.10.58.

The Windows resources monitoring says that the prox is running at 56 % of his max frequency.

I should check if my computer is running slowly or if the boinc client is running too slow.

Thanks for your advice.

Lionel.

OK, I cleaned the process and

OK, I cleaned the process and checked the frequency with the Windows Performances Analyst. The frequency is around 2,644 GHz. It is a little bit slow, the computer should run at 2,8 GHz. It is just 5.6 % slower than the max frequency.

Should my problem come from the Boinc profile file ?

Bests.

Only if you therein have throttled the CPU usage (and if you are speaking of your global-preferences-override file).

Nope. I have 100 % for

Nope.
I have 100 % for Einstein on CPU only and 100 % on Milkyway GPU only (I know Milkyway uses 0.05 CPU time but it's OK).

I don't know what's going on.

This is your resource share I

This is your resource share I guess. What Gundolf was referring to is a preference setting "use xxx % of the CPU".

Since your second PC is also kind of underperforming, this might well be the reason for your problem.

Do you use "High Performance"

Do you use "High Performance" power profile (Windows setting, not BOINC)?

Hello, No, I personalized

Hello,

No, I personalized my profile. the high performance profile is too "light".
Guess I have to uncheck some more process but it doesn't explain why crunching a S5GC1HF takes 60 % more than the oldest Global Corelation WU. I didn't change anything on the computer.

anyway, I downloaded my first BRP3 WU. I guess it will take 11 hours to complete with a GTX 275. there's allready 50 % done. I'll see tomorrow how is it going.
Have a good night and thanks for answering me.

Check out the other BRPS

Check out the other BRPS threads for a fix for your slow GTX 275, my GTX 460 has gone from 10 hours to 50 minutes...

P.S. If you are confident, go into the BIOS and disabled speedstep and other power saving options.

As others have said, something is very broken. My i7-860 takes about 4.5 hrs to get through them (on Linux and only running 3 threads).

I hope you are able to find the problem, your system can do a lot better...
