Hi,
I got two of the new BRP3 CUDA WUs.
First numbers and one problem:
E6750, GTX260, vista64, Boinc 6.10.58
With the new 0.2 CPU + 1.0 GPU there are also two GW-WUs running. At this setting the GPUload is only 6%.
With no or only one GW-task the GPU-load is ~50%.
In the first 40 min the WU got only to 5%, but now I get ~1.1%/min

The CPU-load is with
GW + GW + BRP = 47% + 47% + 3%
GW + BRP = 50% + 20%

I played around with the settings.
BRP with 0.05 CPU + 1 GPU gives the same results.
With two GW-tasks the GPU-load drops to 6%.
And with only two CUDA-tasks and the setting to 0.49 GPU the GPU-load is 63%
Adjusting the cpu usage
)
Adjusting the cpu usage number should not change anything - it's just a rough guideline without much consequence. The only thing it should affect is BOINC scheduling. BOINC can't dictate how the actual clients will run (apart from "on" and "off").

The problem is that with the GPU-load at 6% the whole CUDA advantage is gone.

Thanks for the feedback.
This is somewhat odd. To prevent this kind of performance degrading, BOINC is supposed to give the Cuda tasks a higher priority with the operating system so that for the little CPU work that needs to be done, the app is never starved.

Sorry, I didn't get your point at first because I didn't understand what you were testing. So on your dual core CPU running 1 CPU + 1 BRP is fine, whereas 2 CPU + 1 BRP leaves the GPU starved. That's certainly something that must be fixed.

Hi,
I forgot to post it. I even tried that. The CUDA app has a higher priority as the GW. I manually set the priority in the taskmanager two or three steps higher then normal, but that didn´t change anything.

I was working on my Computer and saw that I got two CUDA-tasks and one of the was at 5% after 40 min. so I tried out what the problem was and how I could fix it.So I tried the things I wrote in the other posts. i don´t know a lot about BOINC so I just played around with the settings
I also got my first BRP3 CUDA
)
I also got my first BRP3 CUDA wu. Running BOINC 6.10.43 results in running 4 S5GC cpu + 1 BRP3 CUDA. (Q6600 with 2x9800GX2). The runtime for the BRP3 is 37000s, which seems way to long.
How can I increase the number of running CUDA apps and decrease the number of CPU apps by one? With my combination I should run 4 CUDAs and 3 S5GC.
edit: I have changed the number of CPUs in BOINC from 100%->75% and now I have 3 CPU tasks with 25% and CUDA with 11%. At 100% CPU I have 4 CPU task with 24-25% and the CUDA task with 3%.

Cuda is another way to say GPU for Boinc projects, so unless you have 4 gpu's in that machine you should not be running 4 cuda units and 1 S5gc unit, it should be the way it is as the S5gc units are cpu units and the Brp3 is a gpu unit. Here is the Wiki info on what Cuda really is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUDA
