Hello,

I'm unable to download the following project files since 24h (every other einstein@home files are downloaded successfully) :

Here is the BOINC logs :

Is there a way to solve this issue, does this issue is related to the einsteinathome servers ? Is this project censored in France?

Configuration and machine used :

BOINC v7.16.20

Windows 10 machine with GTX1060 and 16GB of RAM and i7 processor

Network Speed : 400Mb/s

DNS : Cloudflare DNS

Best regards,

I also tryed to change the

I also tryed to change the project master url as I see it's beeing redirected to https://einsteinathome.org :

<master_url>http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/</master_url>

But no success, same bug.

I also tryed to clear project files and reinstall boinc but the bug remain.

I used debugging to get more informations :

I found the problem.

On the logs here, we can see 404 error and the domain used to download the files inside the enistein@home configuration is different.

Eistein@home configuration is pointing to an incorrect server or file to download is unavalable on the einstein@home server ! I tested to download the same file manually throught the https://einsteinathome.org domain instead of the domain used by BOINC and it succeed but not for all files.

Warning : this means that at least any new windows user's cannot contribute et Einstein@home because they will be unable to download required files.

Project maintainer should consider to fix this issue.

I've also been having

I've also been having download problems since the early hours of this morning. Two clues:

From client_state:

<file_xfer_error>
  <file_name>skygrid_630Hz_m0.002.dat</file_name>
  <error_code>-119 (md5 checksum failed for file)</error_code>
</file_xfer_error>

From event log:

These files have ended up as zero length entries in the project directory in BOINC, and return a 404 error (file not found) when I try to download them manually via a browser.

I'm going to wait until my current cache has been fully processed, and try resetting the project: try and get a different frequency band next time. This problem is only happening on one machine, out of five I've checked so far.

No, resetting the project

No, resetting the project didn't help - more download errors on the restart. And a second machine has started exhibiting the same problem. I'll save some electricity overnight, and tackle it afresh in the morning.

Edit - to help investigators, the two hosts affected (so far) are 12788501 and 12808716. Both are Linux, but I don't think that'll affect the data files on the server. They just happen to be my newest and fastest crunchers.

But I'm still getting

But I'm still getting download errors on GW tasks for GPU.

So it means this bug concern

So it means this bug concern all windows and Linux users (it will concern probably all users).

So the project(s) maintainer(s) should consider to fix this issue ASAP as it's blocking any users that will need to (re)download program file(s) / tasks.

The number of contributions may drop quickly at short term if issue is not solved.

My WUs (even the 640s) are doing fine on W7, W10 and XP.

Would be helpful if you would "unhide" your computers ....

Have a nice day ...

Sounds like a problem

Sounds like a problem specific to GW maybe? Or does this only affect newly attached hosts? I haven’t noticed any issue with my systems.

Here it is : https://einsteinathome.org/fr/host/12763934/tasks/0/0

As you can see, there is a lot of download errors.

If you read my comments above and look at the screen captures (specificaly the one who show the debug logs of the BOINC client), you will see the problem is not the computer itself but an einstein@home server that is returning an HTTP error 404 when the BOINC client is attempting to download required files (specifically NVidia GPU and tasks related files).

If you need more logs on a linux machine (e.g.), here is a comment with this : https://einsteinathome.org/fr/content/project-files-stuck-download#comment-192849

On a linux computer I could observe same download error related to same HTTP error on einstein@home's server side.

For privacy reason, I hide all my computers from public users, so when you will finish to look at my specs I will hide them again.

Have a nice day ...

I tryed on a linux computer and I encountered the same donwload errors but not on the same files (probably because as it's a linux computer, required files are not the same) :

Standard logs :

HTTP DEBUG logs :

(click on the picture to view at fulll size)

So the list of my computers having the bug :

https://einsteinathome.org/fr/host/12763934

https://einsteinathome.org/fr/host/12919933

As you can see, they are different computers, different operating system.

So it's not operating system related and it's not computer related.

Note : on both machines I added the project so it seem's to affect every newly attached hosts :)

As you will see for yourself if you click on the links in my message 192810. Doesn't matter whether it's BOINC or a browser, Windows or Linux - if the file ain't there, it ain't there.
