I've just installed the new Ubuntu server 10.04. Downloaded the latest version of boinc, and when I try to run einstein@home I get this msg:
"message from server platform: x86_64-pc-linux-gnu not found".
Now I dot't get it, why did it worked before on same computer, and now it doesn't?
As I understand the problem is that it tries to get x64 einstein applications but there are none available. How do I get boinc to download i686 application and use it?

Did you change from 32bit to 64bit BOINC on that host?

I used the 64bit operating system before as do I now.
1. I downloaded the file boinc_6.10.17_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh from boinc site and I got this problem.
Next tried with boinc-client from ubuntu repository and the result is the same. (with command: sudo aptitude install boinc-client).

Install the 32bit compatibility libraries for your OS: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Installing_BOINC#Ubuntu

My question was for the bitness of the previous BOINC installation, not the OS ;-)

Thanks, that did the job. I haven't had that problem before, because I used it on computers with desktop environment, and while installing the nvidia drivers I always installed the 32bit compatibility libraries and as for my last server setup I don't remember when I needed to install them for something else. But anyway, it works now, thanks a bunch.

I used the 64bit version before, but Ageless solved my problem.
