Hi,
Although my PC is running, Boing manager does not start automatically to process WUs.
It is only when I clic on the Boing Mgr icon that the system connects to the client and start processing.
I set preferences (yes everywhere, use of GPU and beta too) and work under W7 64 bit.
Is there a way to run Boing manager at start of the PC insead of heaving to open the application each time ?
Thanks

NB. Isn't there an command to add in cc_config.xml file to run BM at startup ?

Just think about the logic of what you are saying. cc_config.xml is read by BOINC during startup. If BOINC has already started, what would be the point of an option in cc_config.xml to start BOINC?
BOINC Manager is the GUI for BOINC. It simply provides a convenient method for interacting with BOINC. It will start BOINC if BOINC is not already running when it is launched. You don't have to have BOINC Manager running in order to start BOINC. BOINC doesn't have to stop if you quit the manager. They are two independent programs. All these options for how things run are available to you.
I haven't run a Windows machine for quite a while so I'm not familiar with the various screens you see and the associated options presented to you during installation. However I'm quite sure that you can arrange to have BOINC start automatically when Windows is started. If that is not happening, you could always stop BOINC (if it's running) and do a reinstall 'over the top' which would allow you to change the startup options to whatever you wanted them to be. It's very quick and safe to do that but you should be able to set up what you want without having to reinstall. Are you sure you have explored all the available options in BOINC Manager as it stands?
If you want BOINC to start when Windows starts, perhaps you need a 'service' install. You should consult the excellent BOINC FAQ Service maintained by Ageless (Jord). Here is a link to the Service Install on Windows entry.

The fact to install it as a

The fact to install it as a service could fix the problem.
But I have no mean to install as such... and from what I read in other BOINC forum I am not alone to experiencing this problem.
In fact it is the case since i am under Windows 7 (32 bit then 64 bits) and now on a new machine.
When I start the PC I also have to clic manually on BOINC Mgr in order to start processing WU. They do not start themselves
This behaviour is not normal.
has this issue with Windows 7 64 bit noted and escalated by other users ?
I look for a solution to fix it using the cc_config.xml as this file can directly interact with the system or via a service.
In addition in my version 7.2.42. (x64) widget 2.8.10, in the menu I have no opyion Advanced > Run Manager at login? (I use a french version)
question : How to know via the menu or in a xml file that my existing BOINC runs or not as a service (without chekcing the task manager) ?
Is there a command listed somewhere that I could edit instead of reinstalling it ?
I continue to search for a fix
Thanks

I found the solution. I

I found the solution.
I have several choices to install BOINC (with virtual box or not):
- install as a service
but consequently the GPU will not be used (missing in the WU status)
so WU that need it (as set in preferences) will not use it
Note that the fact to add a command line in cc_confi.xml to use GPU is
disabled as the service started before the graphic card.
- install by default
the GPU will be used
but you have to start the WU manually when the PC session start in clicking
on the Boinc Mgr so that the system connect to the client
Close for me.

But not quite the correct
)
But not quite the correct answer, so I'll try to clarify in case anybody else has the same problem.
If you 'install as a service' (Protected Application Execution), no GPU tasks will run. Nothing you change in cc_config.xml will over-ride that.
If you install in 'single user mode', you can control whether BOINC runs at login from the Manager GUI - Advanced view, Tools menu, Options... (check the first check box - 'Run Manager at login?')
If you do this, BOINC Manager will launch minimised and hidden in the Notification Area - but it will (should) start the client and start running tasks. You can check that with the Windows Task Manager.
If you install in multi-user mode, and then log in as a different user, you'll encounter a BOINC bug. That's fixed in the next version (currently testing at v7.3.11, but there should be a new test version soon).
I correct my note because I
)
I correct my note because I noted a different behaviour.
This time (I deinstalled and reinsallled 4 times including with VM and as services
I installed the standard version as single user, by default, so without service, and using all my preferences (in fact they are similar to "run permanently" except that I set to use all CPU/GPU at 90% to leave me some resources for other applications. But even so the memory hungriest apps slow down a bit, e;g. photoshop).
In this config BOINC uses the GPU.
I also set the exe properties to add it to the start menu and in the task bar.
(but I did that earlier and BM didn't process WU when windows opened).
This time but I don't know why, the WU started automatically when windows 7 opens its session.
A posteriori this behaviour is normal and logical but what I experimented until now was not.
Conclusion : in case of issue, as BOINC does not touch to data, you can deinstall BOINC and reinstall it quickly. But take care to set up each option and the properties of the exe file.
Thanks.
