From time to time the einstein@home web site kicks me out and I am forced to do a new login. When I am logged out, the language of the pages is according to my country (Finland), that's OK. But after login it still gives me Finnish language pages and not what's set on my preferences (English). I have to manually edit the URL to get English pages or select page from my bookmarks.

Not a major problem but an inconvenience anyway.

This sounds interesting

This sounds interesting because I typically haven't seen this behavior.

What happens if you use a different browser, or use Private Browsing/Incognito mode? I'm curious to see what happens if you start with a clear cache and no cookies. And seeing if the problem can be reproduced using a blank slate.

I am nowadays using Chrome. I opened Chrome's incognito window, went to einstein's home page (einsteinathome.org) and get the Finnish front page (einsteinathome.org/fi/home). I logged in and still get the Finnish front page. Then I tried Firefox normal window that I used to use before and it seems to work correctly.

I tried it on a different computer with win 10 and Edge browser. I don't usually use that computer for browsing but I may have visited einstein before using it. At least it auto filled the URL when I typed it in. Anyway Edge didn't show Finnish home page but English one, even when I wasn't logged in. Both my win 7 and win 10 are setup for English.

When I was logged out on the Chrome incognito window and type the URL (einsteinathome.org) it will always auto direct to Finnish home page (einsteinathome.org/fi/home).

I tried this also on Avast Secure Browser win 7 (never used it before) and it doesn't show Finnish pages.

So this seems to suggest that it is Chrome that is giving the problem.

I think that I found the problem. In Chrome I had Finnish language set as a preferred language. When I raised US English to the top of the language list and tested in the Incognito window, I get English for the login page.

I see same minor, but little annoying language problem as described by Harri Liljeroos.

Only difference my local language is Russian and after each log-off site lang resets to Russian and stay Russian even after I log-in again and ignores my setting in preferences set to English.

It have been this way all the time since previous major E@H site update (about a year ago i think?) in all browser on both computers i use.

Interesting note: site "forget" my lang setting after log-off / log-in process and keep showing pages in Russian (actually awful mix of English and Russian due to incomplete and bad translation - this is a reason why i prefer to see full English) but if I open my preferences page - server immediately "recalls" that i want English and switch site interface back to English.
WITHOUT any actual editing/change in preferences - only open pref page is enough.

Looks like i have found why

Looks like i have found why such things happens: it due to language setting appears also in url like:

https://einsteinathome.org/ru/content/wrong-language-preference-selected-web-pages

If i open E@H website without log-in to my account - language auto detection kick-in and set language by ip or language of the browser and put it in the URL string.

After i do log-in this setting in the URL string keeps the same and looks like it have higher priory compared to language selected in the account settings.

User need to get rid of this setting in the URL to revert back to language set in preferences. While it should be done automatically after log-in or setting in the account should have higher priority compared to URL.
