Hi,
There an encoding issue with the password management system. However I don't know if it's come from E@H or Boinc.
Steps to reproduce the issue :
- On E@H change you password to include at least one non-ASCII char. To test theses StR i use "Étoile à neutrons"
- Delete E@H project from boinc manager. You should complete and send your tasks before doing that.
- Start to include E@H again
- Select existing user and Copy/Paste the password and confirm
Actual behaviour:
The login fail.
Expected bahaviour:
The login should works
Workaround:
- Open notepad++ and select Encoding > UTF-8
- Paste the password
- select Encoding > ANSI. Do NOT select Convert to ANSI
- The password look different ("Étoile à neutrons" in my test)
- Copy this password. Do NOT copy the password from the the forum since some browser replaces the un-breaking space with simple space on copy.
- Use this password in Boinc manager
Configuration :
- Boinc 7.8.3 (x64)
- Firefox 84.0 (64 bits)
- Windows 8.1

Not a clue if it would help but upgrading to a newer version of Boinc wouldn't hurt, ver 7.16.16 is the latest for Windows users and most project websites, obviously not this one though, require 7.10.?? to get thru the https stuff. The whole list if versions available cane be found here https://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/?C=M;O=D and the latest and greatest is 64bit ONLY for Windows, so if your machine is still a 32bit OS you will need to go back a few to get one that works for you.
To be honest I think your problem is an Einstein problem with getting an unexpected entry in a box. To me it's like me saying 'hay bale' the first time I see you....you would look at me and say huh? and that's what you are saying Einstein is doing when you use the copy and paste method.
I'll retry tomorrow with the

Then it's definitely a Project or bigger Boinc problem, have you tried it at other projects? If it happens at every project then it could be a Boinc problem as every project uses the same basic software that they then modify to fit their own needs. If it happens everywhere then you may have to tell the Boinc Alpha Team to get it fixed.
